No. 3 of 1944.

An Act to apply, out of the General Revenue, a further sum of One Million Pounds to the Public Service for the year ending the thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and forty-five.

[Assented to 14th September, 1944.]

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor of the State of South Australia, with the advice and consent of the Parliament thereof, as follows :

This Act may be cited as the" Supply Act (No.2), 1944 ".

Out of the General Revenue of the State there shall be issued and applied, from time to time, for the public service of the State for the financial year ending the thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and forty-fi.-ve, in addition to any moneys so issued and applied pursuant to the Supply Act (No.1) 1944, any moneys not exceeding in the whole one million pounds.

3. (1) No payments for any establishment or service shall be made out of the said moneys in excess of the rates voted for similar establishments or services on the Estimates for the financial year ended on the thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and forty-four, except increases of salaries or wages fixed or prescribed by any return made under any Act relating to the public service, or by any regulation, or by any award, order, or determination of any court or other body empowered to fix or prescribe wages or salaries.

(2) The Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay such increases out of the said moneys.

thirtieth day of June, nineteen hundred and forty-four, and the commencement of this Act, shall be recouped to the Governor's Appropriation Fund out of the money voted by this Act, to the intent that the Governor shall thereafter have power to appropriate revenue under the authority of subsection (1) of section 72 of the Constitution Act, 1934-1943, to the full amount and for the purposes permitted by that subsection.

(2) In this section" Governor's Appropriation Fund" means the Governor's Appropriation Fund as defined by subsection (2) of section 72 of the Constitution Act, 1934-1943.
