BY-LAWS OF THE

QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Under the director, the secretary - (a) is responsible for the general administration of the Institute;. The Council may adopt rules to carry out all or any of the provisions of this policy.

RULES RELATING TO STUDENT MATTERS

Head of School means a member of the academic staff appointed by the Council and so appointed. An applicant whose application for enrollment has been changed has access to appeal to the headmaster.

GENERAL EXAMINATION RULES

Part I. DEFINITIONS

DETERMINATION AND NOTIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS

The registrar can determine on which date all documents from the Central Examination to be drawn up by the examiners must be sent to the Examinations department within the registration office, and in what form these documents will be received. a) The Registrar is responsible for preparing a timetable for all Central Examinations and for publishing this timetable as required by these regulations. No change to the schedule of the Central Examinations will be accepted after the issuance of examination forms for students as referred to in Article 8(a). a) The registrar will send each student an examination form at least two weeks before the start of the Central examination period, listing all subjects for which the student is registered in the current semester, stating whether a Central examination exists for the subject, the examination schedule and the date and time of the exam in the subjects that are examined centrally.

Part IV. ELIGIBILITY TO UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS

A timetable for Central Examinations will be posted on the main boards of the Institute and for external students not less than three weeks before the start of the relevant examination period of the semester. A student may be declared ineligible by the Head of Department responsible for the course to be tested as a result of failure to meet all the conditions set out in the rules relating to the course for which the student is registered. .

DEFERRED EXAMINATIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

A candidate may not leave an examination room before the end of the examination period without permission from a supervisor. A person, whether a candidate or not, must not do anything to assist another person taking an examination to cheat or otherwise defeat the purpose of the examination.

Part VII. PLAGIARISM

Based on the results given by the Head of Department, the Registrar will give each Academic Board. Unless the Academic Board responsible for the course has decided that further assessment is desirable before issuing a final result, the student will be given an opportunity to show the Registrar why the result should not be cancelled.

REVIEW OF RESULTS

The Academic Council responsible for the course in which the student is enrolled must notify the Registrar of a final result no later than two weeks (or six weeks with Academic Council approval) after the start of the following semester.

Part XI. GROSS FAILURE

Any letter of appeal must state the grounds and reasons for the appeal and must be delivered or mailed so that it reaches the Registrar within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date appearing on the Registrar's letter advising the student of the penalties imposed. An Academic Board may appoint an Academic Board Committee to make recommendations to the Academic Board.

QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY LIBRARY RULES

The Library will be administered in accordance with these Rules by the Law School Librarian under the direction of the Head of the School of Law. Any person seeking approval to use the Library in terms of Rule 5(a)(iv) must apply in writing to the Head of the School of Law. Articles left unattended in the Library for more than one hour may be removed by any member of staff on duty in the Library.

CENTRAL SERVICES

In addition, a horizontal shoulder strap 100 mm long and 50 mm wide in the color of the school in which the degree was obtained must be attached to the academic gown. Hood: A black hood with a 50mm long ribbon of school colored silk placed 50mm from the inner edge of the hood. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Users should refer to the Program Library Catalog for details of the wide range of packages available. The collections there reflect the courses offered and the research orientations of the college staff. Q SEARCH has access to more than 600 academic and technical staff of the Institute and a large number of well-equipped laboratories and analytical facilities.

STUDENT SERVICES

Billiards, gaming machines and table tennis facilities are available for use by Union members from 8.30am in the Games Room on Level 1 of the Community Building. All members of the Union are free to contribute articles, poetic masterpieces, etc. to PLANET. Since the creation of the Union there has been a gradual increase in the number of clubs and associations.

INSTITUTE FUNCTIONS

The QIT Admissions and Administrative Services Department headed by the Deputy Registrar is responsible for the publications that provide readily accessible information to the general public. Other publications related to specific functions of the Institute are- - The Queensland Tertiary Courses Booklet. It contains in detail the admission procedures, the courses available, the admission policy of the Institute, the Enrollment Procedures and the requirements necessary to be eligible for admission.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Students seeking admission to an actual course will not be considered non-registered students and must follow the application procedures previously described. Students who wish to re-enroll after an expired registration of any duration, who have not taken all first-year subjects of the course for which they wish to re-register and who have not been granted a leave of absence, must re-apply via QTAC for a place in the quota. Applicants do not need to apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Center unless they are seeking entry to a course from which they are not excluded.

ADMISSION POLICY and ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must provide a full description of the program(s) including the purpose, structure and other information on the organizing body; duration and location of classes, seminars, workshops; outcomes obtained and perceived benefits of participation or reasons for non-completion (where appropriate). Degree or diploma from a recognized university or CAE with an appropriate major in accounting, provided that in the case of a degree, additional work may be required by the Head of the Accounts Department. SUBJECT AND COURSE NUMBERING SYSTEM

The weighted grade point average is reported on the Examination Result Certificate and on the Statement of Academic Record. For the weighted grade average for the semester, the summary includes all the results achieved for the semester. For the weighted grade average in the course, the summary includes all results achieved in the course since 1985.

COURSES OFFERED BY THE SCHOOL OF LAW

INFORMATION FOR AND ADVICE TO STUDENTS AND PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

This is not simply a copy of the lecture notes in the subject, but has been specially prepared for external students. It is strongly recommended that all external students also purchase a copy of the Law Handbook from the Institute Bookshop. A good knowledge of the nominated cases in itself is not enough to ensure a pass in the subject.

COURSE RULES -

GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LEGAL PRACTICE

A student who is absent from the course for a total of more than seven days will be refused a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of the course, unless he shows to the Head of the Law School why such a Certificate should be granted. The Head of the School may require students to comply with such other regulations relating to the Legal Practice Course as may be notified from time to time. Subject to the rules set out above, each student who satisfactorily attends and completes each part of the course and who meets all the requirements relating to the course will receive a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of the Legal Practice Course and will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice .

In the case of an elective other than law or introductory accounting, a student enrolled in a full-time or part-time internal course must meet the attendance and grading requirements of the College of Business or other Concerned School. e). SYNOPSES

Both customary law and the statutory regulation of the employment contract are discussed. The course emphasizes the legal principles arising from the rules of law of the Australian Supreme Courts. The course in this subject covers the legal principles of the tax system in Australia.
