Monitoring 2013: Timelines and content of submissions
Purpose
To notify schools of timelines for Year 11 monitoring in 2013, and contents of school submissions.
Background
Monitoring is the process by which review panels consider the school’s implementation of a course and the standards of assessment in Authority subjects after approximately half of the course of study has been completed.
Information
All schools with Year 11 students studying senior Authority subjects in 2012 are to provide submissions for monitoring.
Due date for submissions
School submissions are required at the QSA district offices by Friday 7 December 2012.
Contents of a school submission
Refer to the Moderation handbook for Authority subjects <www.qsa.qld.edu.au/10773.html> to see:
• monitoring processes (Section 3.3)
• requirements for a monitoring submission (Section 4.1.2).
Please do not include materials in submissions other than those listed in the handbook.
Safety of submission handlers
In previous years, the size and weight of some packaged submissions have caused handling difficulties for QSA staff and panellists receiving submissions. Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, QSA is required to protect the health, safety and welfare of all workers at work and of all other people who might be affected by the work. If the total package of submissions from the school exceeds 16 kg, submissions must be bundled into smaller packages. These packages should be clearly marked, for example “Package 1 of 2”.
