COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Selected students are given this one-year course as a continuation of T.P.T.C. The additional year qualifies them to take charge of libraries in Department of Education schools. The course trains students to manage and organize school and college libraries, gain knowledge and appreciation of children's literature, understand children's reading habits, and establish the library as the focal point of the school or college educational program. A week of observation in the third week of the college year. ii) Ten weeks consisting of five two-week periods.

The goals of the course are to develop students' cultural background, enrich their knowledge and appreciation of art, and provide them with opportunities for artistic expression.

COURSE REGULATIONS

A student who fails a unit of study must repeat that unit in the following year. A student who fails a major other than education must, except as provided in 5 below, repeat that unit in the following year. A student who fails one of the units of English taken as a minor must repeat that unit in the following or subsequent years.

A student who fails in any component of a sub-major other than English must, except as provided in 5 below, repeat that component in subsequent or subsequent years.

A specific area of ​​inquiry will be determined by each student under the guidance of the lecturer. The subject known as Procedures and Practice of Teaching naturally falls within the field of education. In school, the student must be alert to observe methods, absorb ideas and experiment with educational theory and practice.

Improvements up to November 1972 include. i) a 20,000 gallon water storage tank supplying reticulated water from Tub Creek. ii) a washing area with showers, toilets, washing room and drying room. iii) electrical power to the ablution block. iv) temporary shelters for food storage and meals (v) a log cabin (under construction). vi) a vehicle track and clearance of lower storey vegetation adjacent to the residential area as required by the Forestry Commission. An appropriate system for financing further development is required, in particular with regard to:. i) provide a building to accommodate the Camp Director (ii) provide buildings to accommodate students and additional staff (iii) add a second floor (as planned) to the indoor ablution block. iv) to build and equip a field study centre. As a teacher training institution, Melbourne College of Education has a responsibility to prepare teachers in this area.

In addition, the center can be used by Melbourne College of Education students in geography and biology as a basis for continuing education in environmental science, and by organizations outside Melbourne College of Education as one of a number of field study centers in the whole state.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

GENERAL INFORMATION
