TRAINED TEACHER-LIBRARIAN'S CERTIFICATE T.T.L.C.
Selected students are granted this one-year course as an extension of the T.P.T.C. or Dip.T.( Prim.) course. The additional year qualifies them to take charge of libraries in Education Department schools. This qualification may also be gained by classified teachers who are granted a free course by the Department.
The course trains students to administer and organize school and college libraries, to acquire a knowledge and appreciation of children's literature, to understand children's reading habits, and to establish the library as the focal point of the educational program of the school or college. The course is based on the general principles of librarianship, modified and adapted for school and college libraries.

T.Sp.T.C.
Selected entrants are granted this one-year course as an extension of a primary teacher's course; others are granted the course as a 'free course' after at least three years experience as a classified teacher.
The course aims to give students an understanding of the particular needs of slow-learning and handicapped children, and introduces them to skills required for teaching in remedial centres, opportunity-remedial centres, special schools for mentally, physically, emotionally and socially handicapped children, demonstration units, and reading units.
Considerable importance is attached to individual and group research.
The course requires both wide reading and visits to a variety of institutions.

It is proposed to alternate the laboratory, excursion and longitudinal aspects on a three week cycle.

(i) One observation week in the third week of the college year.
(ii) Ten weeks consisting of five two-week periods. Four of these will be concerned with specific course requirements. The other round will be open to student choice. It may be possible for some students to spend one of their teaching experiences in private 'special' settings, either in
Victoria or interstate.
(iii) One week at the demonstration unit.
T.A.C.T.C. (Prim.)
Selected students are granted this extension after completing the T.P.T.C.
course. This further year of training equips teachers to take charge of art and craft centres in primary schools, and to teach art and craft in consolidated schools.
The aims of the course are to develop the students' cultural background, to enrich their knowledge and appreciation of art, and to provide them with opportunities for artistic expression. They are encouraged to experi- ment so that they may develop creativity, and acquire skills that will help them become specialist teachers of art and crafts.
