PERFORMANCE ACHIEVEMENT GRANT GUIDELINES

Program Aim

The aim of the Mackay Regional Council’s Performance Achievement Grant Program is to provide financial assistance toward the cost of team levies, registration, uniforms, travel and other costs associated with participation in National and International Sporting, Arts and Culture or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) competitions and events outside of the boundaries of Mackay, Whitsunday, and Isaac Regional Council areas.

Objectives

• To provide assistance to individuals in support of their participation at state, national or international competitions and events.

• To encourage further development of individuals and teams in their chosen fields of achievement.

• To encourage links that foster partnerships between the Mackay Regional Council and the local community.

Definitions

Sport Those sports as officially recognised by Sport and Recreation Queensland.

Team Team applications must be completed when there are 3 or more people from the same club/organisation competing in the same event.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be participating in an officially recognised State, National or International event;

• Be a resident in the Mackay Regional Council area;

• Be amateur in status;

• Be no older than 21 years of age at the conclusion of the event; and

• Be selected or invited to participate and must provide a copy of the letter of selection; and

• Attach a letter from the local association stating that the applicant is the only representative from the club. (Two representatives from the same organisation can apply as individuals, however, three or more requires a single club application.)

What Is Not Eligible?

Sports category applications do not extend to selection in primary or secondary school teams at any level or zone.

Performance Achievement Grants do not extend to individual professional development.

Amount Of Financial Assistance

Applicants are eligible for the following amounts:

• Participation in a state, national or international competition within Queensland:

Individual - $150 / Team - $500.

• Participation in a state, national or international competition within Australia:

Individual - $250 / Team - $600.

• Participation in an international competition overseas: Individual - $350 / Team -

$800.

Individuals are eligible to receive a maximum of $500 per financial year. Teams are eligible to receive a maximum of $1,300 per year.

Supporting Information

After determining that the applicant is eligible for a Mackay Regional Council Performance Achievement Grant, the applicant is required to source documentation to support the application.

If this information is not attached to the application, it will be deemed ineligible.

• Evidence that the applicant is selected or invited as a Queensland or Australian representative (a letter from the sanctioning body); and

• A letter from team management noting team fees, uniforms, travel costs, etc. or copies of invoices and receipts for same.

• Arts and Culture Grants require a CV to be attached to the application.

Timeframe

• Applications must be lodged with Council a minimum of thirty days prior to attending the event.

• Retrospective applications will not be considered.

Application Lodgement

• Applications are to be made via Council’s online Grant Program - https://mackay.smartygrants.com.au/

• Applications are able to be submitted at any time throughout the year.

• Please ensure all sections of the application form have been completed, as you will be unable to submit an incomplete application.

• Council Libraries are able to provide access to a computer to allow access and completion of the application form.

Assessment Applications are assessed and approved by delegation of the Chief Executive Officer.

Acquittal

• Successful applications are to be acquitted within 4 weeks of the completion of the event.

• Acquittal forms are accessible via Council's online Grant Program - https://mackay.smartygrants.com.au/.

• Receipts showing use of grant monies will be required, along with photographic evidence or a certificate of attendance.

• Failure to submit a completed acquittal form will result in applicants being ineligible to receive any further funding from any Council grant programs.
