The following two Australian Studies subjects (16.7 points each)
Objectives: Provide an additional component to the regular language teaching and extra training in reading skills for postgraduate research, including resource skills in the use of dictionaries, reference works, bibliographies and electronic databases. The level of study, content and assessment of the subject will be determined by the coordinator after placement testing. The reading course will provide students with extra training in the reading skills required for postgraduate research, and resource skills in the use of a range of Western and Donetsk language dictionaries, reference works, bibliographies and electronic databases.
Two single semester subjects with Australian content selected from the third or fourth year offerings from other departments (16.7 points each)
The first part is a teaching program in communicative language use; the second is a reading course and series of seminars on the use of Indonesian language materials for research purposes.

Objectives: The subject will provide the candidate with a knowledge of the biological bases of psychological disorders and of the relevant physiological systems. Objectives: The subject aims to inform the candidate of the relevant social and cultural issues raised in the understanding of disorders and their treatment, covering topics such as family therapy.
PSYCHOSOCIAL STUDIES
Students take on the role of a professional trainee, and are expected to exercise the range of professional responsibilities relevant to the environment in which they are placed. With regard to the latter, particular emphasis will be placed on the connection between research in cognitive neuropsychology and applications of that research to the treatment and rehabilitation of neuropsychological disorders. Assessment: An oral presentation on a topic relevant to the subject, an essay not exceeding 4,000 words.
PUBLIC POLICY
Contact: About 2 days a week during the semester. Assessment: Written work totaling 6,000 words. Note: A substitute upper level Russian language unit may be taken with the approval of the course coordinator. The purpose of the series is to introduce students to issues of research epistemology and methodology.
