Review of the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0: Languages — Phase 3
Purpose
To inform schools that the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0: Languages — Phase 3 (Arabic, Hindi, Turkish and Vietnamese) is available for public consultation until 12 April 2023.
Background
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has reviewed the P–10 Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 to ensure it meets the needs of students and teachers now and into the future.
The following Australian Curriculum Version 9.0: Languages have been reviewed, endorsed and published on the ACARA website:
• Phase 1: Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese
• Phase 2: German, Indonesian, Korean, Modern Greek and Spanish.
The following Phase 3 Languages for both Prep–Year 10 and Years 7–10 sequences are now available for public consultation at www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/consultation/languages:
• Arabic
• Hindi
• Turkish
• Vietnamese.
ACARA is leading the review and has extensive information on its website. This information includes:
• terms of reference
• research findings
• a process paper
• factsheets
• FAQs.

Information
As part of the consultation, stakeholders will be able to:
• review the proposed Arabic, Hindi, Turkish and Vietnamese changes
• provide feedback via an online survey at
www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/consultation/languages-surveys.
