Australian Curriculum Version 9.0:

Forums and webinars in Term 4

Purpose

To remind principals and one other nominated school leader to attend in-person forums about Version 9.0 of the P–10 Australian Curriculum and announce webinars for primary and junior secondary staff.

Background

On 1 April 2022, Commonwealth, State and Territory Education Ministers endorsed the revised version of the P–10 Australian Curriculum, Version 9.0.

In June 2022, the Minister for Education advised that Queensland would implement Version 9.0 for all learning areas by 2026, and that there would be a phased approach to implementation.

Version 9.0 introduces changes in all dimensions of the curriculum, including the eight learning areas, general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.

The QCAA will support schools to implement the curriculum and plan quality assessment by providing advice, resources and professional learning.

Forums for school leaders

In October 2022, the QCAA will host free in-person forums about the P–10 Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 for school leaders at locations around Queensland.

Schools can register a maximum of two attendees (e.g. Principal and Deputy/Assistant Principal) who will have the opportunity to:

• consider the context and purpose of the Australian Curriculum v9.0

• compare key aspects of v8.4 and v9.0, and reflect on what the changes mean

• explore some of the QCAA’s new resources and discuss their school’s needs

• draft ideas for school-specific strategies to guide implementation

• network with colleagues who have a shared context, i.e. P–6, Years 7–10 or P–10.
