Meeting: 23 March 2016

Agenda Item Recommendation Senior syllabus redevelopment

in 2016

It was agreed to:

• note the update on the redevelopment of senior syllabuses in 2016

• request information about the process for supporting the

implementation of the new senior system in different teaching contexts.

Learning Area Reference Groups update

It was agreed to note the information about the inaugural meetings of the Learning Area Reference Groups.

ICT infrastructure to support new senior assessment and tertiary entrance processes

It was agreed to endorse the use of QCAA’s cash reserves during

2016–19 to fund the redevelopment of the ICT infrastructure to support new senior assessment and tertiary entrance processes.

Report from the QCAA Senior Review Steering Committee

It was agreed to note the outcomes of the Senior Review Steering Committee meeting held on 9 March 2016.

NAPLAN online update It was agreed to:

• note the current status of the implementation of NAPLAN online in Queensland

• request a further update following the release of the online national assessment platform.

2016 NAPLAN update It was agreed to note the current status of the 2016 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy in Queensland.

Core P–10 Australian Curriculum

It was agreed to note the work being undertaken to identify a core P–10 Australian Curriculum for Queensland schools.

Audit Committee It was agreed to:

• note the minutes of the Audit Committee meeting held on 23 February 2016 and the strategic risk assessment report

• increase the membership of the Audit Committee and seek nominations from Authority members.

K–6 Curriculum and Assessment Committee

It was agreed to note the report from the K–6 Curriculum and Assessment Committee meeting held on 17 March 2016.

Appointments to Board committees

It was agreed to approve the following appointments to Board committees:

• K–6 Curriculum and Assessment Committee:

o Mr Adam Mathewson, Queensland Association of State School Principals nominee

o Ms Cresta Richardson, union representative, Queensland Teachers’ Union nominee

• Years 7–12 Curriculum, Assessment and Certification Committee:

o Ms Linda Buxton, Queensland Secondary Principals’ Association nominee

o Mr Tim Maloney, VET/industry representative, Department of Education and Training nominee

o Ms Adele Schmidt, union representative, Independent Education Union of Australia — Queensland and Northern Territory Branch nominee.

vocational education and training: discussion paper — QCAA submission

It was agreed to approve QCAA’s submission in response to the Quality of assessment in vocational education and training – discussion paper, subject to further feedback from Authority members.

Out-of-Session item: External assessment trials in Economics and Graphics

It was agreed to note that the implementation of external formative assessment trials in Economics and Graphics in schools in Semester 2, 2016 was approved out-of-session.

Financial Report It was agreed to note the financial report as at 29 February 2016, including variance explanations.

Dashboard Performance Report It was agreed to note the Dashboard Performance Report as at 29 February 2016.

Correspondence Report It was agreed to note the correspondence received or sent by the QCAA Chair since the last meeting.

Year 12 Outcomes Report 2015 It was agreed to note the release of the Year 12 Outcomes Report for students exiting in 2015.
