4.36 Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Results:

The group I got for the study was mainly sitting in the teashop after the evening. They are about nine people. I asked them a few questions about how they feel about the agricultural programs broadcast on Television.

Our conversations were like this-

Moderator: Why and when do you watch those programs and what is your opinion?

“We like those programs very much. It is beneficial for us. However, if it telecast after 8pm, we can see the programs.”

Moderator: Do you know the term “Sustainable Agricultural Development” from those programs, and if know, what do you understand by this term?

“We know about this issue. However, we do not know it very well. Sometimes we see on television. But it is good for us to talk about the importance of this serious issue if someone comes directly to us.”

Moderator: What is your opinion about using Bio-fertilizer by watching those programs?

“By these programs, we have learned a lot about Bio- fertilizers. However, the price of Bio- fertilizers is relatively high. As a result, we cannot buy them and it is seen that farmers who are a little rich, they can always buy these fertilizers at a lower price. So here is discrimination of distribution process.”

Moderator: What is your opinion about using of Chemical-fertilizer by watching those programs?

We came to know many harmful effects of Chemical-fertilizer through these programs.

Nevertheless, for the best production, we are forced to doing this.

Moderator: What is your opinion about using of Pesticides by watching those programs?

“By these programs, we have learned a lot about the harmful effects of using Pesticides.

Nevertheless, for the best production and available, we are forced to doing this.”

Moderator: Do you know about the Pheromone Trap” method by watching those programs?

“We have learned fairly about this matter. However, it would have been better if we trained well in this regard. Apart from reporting on this subject, it would have benefited a lot.”
