I am pleased to confirm that the project paper on "The Online Classroom During the COVID-19 Pandemic in English Education" prepared by Md. Abdul Momen Sarker, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Påskelilje International University, for his endless help and guidance to complete my project paper. I am grateful to the authority of the English department for allowing me to do my internship in this university.

The purpose of this project paper is to provide an overview of the situation of online English classes and teaching techniques during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. Essentially, in this article we try to discover the strengths and weaknesses of online classes in English and consider the basic situation of students and how they learn in this situation. We chose two classes to observe teachers' teaching methods and strategies and one class for guidance, so that we could get a clear idea of ​​the English teaching and learning situation of online classes.

This project aims to know the teaching methods used by teachers in this Corona pandemic situation for online classes in English language and its outcome. However, as the teachers were stressed about the study of students, they started taking online classes all over the world. Starting online classes was difficult in Bangladesh as many of our old educators are not that fast and familiar with advanced technology, but still they worked hard to keep up with the world.

We observed and prepared a report depending on the situation of online classes in English during this outbreak of Covid-19.

Objectives of the Study

Selection of Institution and Class: Daffodil International University's Department of English was chosen for class observation and to conduct a class. I had selected the two classes from different batches to observe and one batch was selected to conduct a class. Permission was taken from the facilitator and my supervisor for online class observation and class management.

Observing classes: Two classes were observed with permission from the course instructors at the same university. From the observation, it was assessed how the interaction in online lessons was between teacher and students. Use of a Checklist: A checklist was used to observe lessons and collect data on the general issues of the lessons. The checklist is included as an appendix at the end of this project document.

1st Class: The lesson topic for this class was to discuss the summary and theme of the drama Arms and The Man by George Bernard Shaw.

Class Observation-1

Throughout the class, a few students were chosen at random by the teacher and told to read a verse for the class. By doing this, he made sure that the students listened to his lecture attentively. After all the discussion was over, the question and answer session was held and then the teacher ended the class.

Class Observation-2

Name of Institution: Daffodil International University Academic Level of Students: 3rd Semester 1st Year. Lesson Objectives: Discuss the summary and theme of George Bernard Shaw's Arms and Man, Act 2. I was able to explain some important topics using real life examples for better understanding.

Also, I mostly used Bengali to explain some themes properly and there were a few mistakes in my pronunciation due to my nervousness.

Use of Language

The teachers used native language and English to make the lecture simple and understandable for the students. Since both lessons are based on literature, learning the target language would be beneficial for the students as they use the target language instead of Bengali language. Eye contacts were too lacking in online classes, which is another way to stay connected with the students.

Online classes are also successful, but I felt that the teaching time for online courses should be 1 hour rated than 1.30 hours. Sometimes one of the teachers spoke so fast that it was difficult for the students to understand the lecture.

Conclusion

The online education system is the safest method of learning and teaching in the current situation. The purpose of this project paper is to observe the situation of English language teaching on online and find out the favorable conditions and disadvantages of online learning. It is an extraordinary experience for me to observe two honors level classes in a renowned university of Bangladesh.

I think this project paper will be able to find out the problems and improve the process of teaching English in the online classroom as well as in the physical classroom.

Checklist- I

The teacher started the lesson by welcoming the students in a pleasant way and getting information about how they felt comfortable with the online lesson. He stayed relevant to the topic and gave them good examples that are relevant to the students and it helped the students learn faster and better. The essential education system allowed the students to develop their sense of learning.

The teacher had a great slide that was relevant to the topic, with an amazingly clear concept. The teacher had the opportunity to complete the entire expected lesson he had planned for that day at the exact time. It was clear that the teacher had exceptional clarity of thought about the whole of his students and their capabilities.

He clarified his topics over and over again without hesitation and the students also asked questions without hesitation and answered happily. He illustrated his slides twice and sometimes appropriately to the students to improve their understanding. He also wrote on the topic in the message box to ensure that students get the lesson properly.

Introduction: Initially, the instructor took a few times to introduce the lecture to the class. He also described the truths of summary, theme and how each was not the same as the other. The educator properly involved them in the class and the participation of the students was excellent.

The pedagogue knew the entire group of his students very well, which made him deliver his lesson to the students in an effective way.

Checklist- II

He also used real life experiences as examples which were very helpful to the students for their better understanding. The students' participation was noticeable in the discussion based on content, it was clear that they the lecture. The instructor started the class by inviting the students comfortably and getting some information about them, how they were ok with the online class.

She stayed relevant with the topic and gave them real life examples that are relevant to the students and helped the students better. 2 ORGANIZATION The teacher had a large slide on the topic, which had an incredibly clear idea. The instructor was able to complete the entire expected lesson he had planned for the class.

She clarified her topics constantly without hesitation and students also asked questions without hesitation and answered with pleasure. Reviewing the main topic of the previous lecture: The teacher gave a quick test to remind the students about the lecture. It also helped the instructor detect students who were inattentive in the previous class.

Presentation of the content of the lecture: After the test, the instructor gave a little presentation of the content of the lecture. End: With a synopsis of the whole class and answering questions, the teacher says goodbye to the students for the day.
