A. Matin Chowdhury
Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury is a founder and current Chairman of Trustee of Education, Science,
Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT), the founding Trust of IUB. He was born in Dhaka and while studying MBBS at Dhaka Medical College joined the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
He was commissioned in the First War Course of the Bangladesh Army and fought the Liberation War in Sector No. 6(A), Thakurgaon. In 1976 he took voluntary retirement from the Army as a Major.
He then joined the family business and is currently the Managing Director of the following companies:
1.New Asia Limited 2.Rahim Textile Mills Ltd.
3.Malek Spinning Mills Ltd.
4.Knit Asia Limited 5.Salek Textile Limited
He is also the Chairman of the following companies:
1.Titas Spinning & Denim Co. Ltd.
2.JM Fabrics Limited.
Apart from the above, he is actively involved in voluntary / non-profit organizations having been the Past Chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Underprivileged Children’s Education Programme (UCEP). He is also involved with many other non-profit organizations including Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB) as a Member of the National Council, Founder Trustee of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), Founder Member, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and Chairman of National Healthcare Network (NHN) and many other voluntary organizations.
