The Environmental Science lab of the department is well equipped with many modern scientific instruments. The Environmental Science department recently procured the HPLC instrument to conduct state of the art research.
Position Purpose:
The Department of Environmental Science is seeking for a Professor to join a highly motivated team of teaching and research staff. Candidates will have a PhD Degree in the field of Environmental Science with 5 years of experience as Associate Professor to apply for this post.
Suitable candidates also should have publications in reputed peer reviewed international journals.
We are particularly interested in recruiting academicians who have teaching and research experience in Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Waste Management, Toxicology, Air and Water Modeling.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

1. PhD Degree in the field of Environmental Science from a reputed university
2. Six years of teaching experience and four publications in reputed journals as Associate Professor or five years of teaching experience and six publications in reputed journals as Associate Professor
3. Capacity to communicate in English
4. Capacity to prepare, deliver and assess teaching materials 5. Capacity to inspire and motivate others
Desirable Knowledge and Skills
1. Experience of conducting research and presenting and publishing output of research works in reputed conferences and journals in the field of Environment
2. Experiences of designing courses, developing course materials and curriculum for new and upcoming topics are added advantage.

Currently the department offers:
• Bachelor of Science in Environment Science
• Masters of Science in Environment Management
Besides the BSc and MSc programs the department offers Minor (Specializations) programs to students of other department and schools of IUB. This is the only university in Bangladesh that has faculty strength to offer such programs.

The department has 11 faculty members, 1 research and development officer, a lab manager, a lab assistant and two dedicated office manager to support our academic and research activities. Current major and minor student number of the department is 183 and 50 respectively.
The Department is very active and approximately 10 research articles are published each year from this department.
Key Result Areas and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning
• 15 credits of teaching load per year is required for this post
• Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, practical classes,demonstrations and assignments for undergraduate and graduate level students
• Perform high quality subject coordination, assessment and consultation
• Contribute to student academic counseling and pastoral care of the students
• Supervise bachelor and masters research projects and thesis Research
• Conduct high quality and high impact research by joining active research teams at the department of Environmental Science
• Explore new research areas and obtain external research funds
• Present papers in international conferences as well as publish articles in high quality, high-impact-peer-reviewed international journals
• Contribute to the preparation of research proposals to external grant providers
• Establish and maintain productive research collaborations nationally and internationally Internal Services

• Undertake a range of administrative functions assigned by the department such as:
Orientation program, student advising, graduation program, alumni activity, organizing seminars and symposium
• Organization and mentoring of internal and external Environmental Olympiad and similar contests
• Organize and support departmental club activities
• Help with the editorial activity of the departmental journal to be published External Services
• Review papers for conferences and journals
• Assess theses completed by students at other institutions
• Participate in the professional aspects of the discipline of Environmental Science including professional societies
