Commandant Hoisting MIST Flag

The 11th Raising Day of MIST was observed on 16 June 2009. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, PhD, hoisted MIST flag at 0900 hrs in front of Admin Building. All officers, JCOs, ORs and civil staffs were present on the occasion. Commandant MIST also planted an ‘Olive’ tree on the northern lawn of Admin Block. Special Darbar was held at 1000 hrs on the same day.

The 30th Meeting of the Academic Council of MIST was held on 14 May 2009.

Commandant MIST, chaired the meeting. Representatives/members from University of Dhaka, BUET, Ministry of Education, Defence, and Finance, Armed Forces Division, Army, Navy and Air Headquarters and concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. Deliberate discussion on various important academic related issues like withdrawal of students, admission of foreign students amendment of academic calendar, amendment of syllabi of CE, CSE, EECE & ME department, promotion of 1st class civil officers, admission test policy, designation change of 2nd class civil officers etc took place and appropriate decisions were taken accordingly.

President Kuwait House of National Works Mr Yousuf Abdul Wahab Al Ameeri led a 03 (three)-member delegation to a visit to MIST on 05 May 2009. Dean MIST, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc welcomed the delegation. The visiting guests were briefed about MIST. Later on, they visited classrooms, laboratories and other facilities of MIST. The faculty members and other officials of MIST attended the discussion. The delegation also called on the Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, PhD, The Delegation offered scholarship for three best students of MIST as a gesture of good will.

A 19 (nineteen)-member Nigerian NDC delegation led by Rear Admiral T J Lokoson visited MIST on 04 May 2009. Commandant MIST received the visiting guest. The visiting delegation was given a presentation about MIST. Later on, they visited classrooms, laboratories and other facilities of MIST. The faculty members and other officials of MIST attended the discussion.

Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, PhD, led a 02 member delegation to Pakistan from 01-04 April 09. They visited National University of Science & Technology (NUST), College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE), Military College of Engineering (MCE) and College of EME. Dean MIST Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc led a 03 member delegation to Thailand from 27-28 January 09. They visited Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Thammasat University. The delegations explored the possibility of collaboration between MIST and respective Universities/ Institutes.

10 students of MIST were awarded the “Osmany Memorial Trust Scholarship”. On behalf of the students, Commandant MIST received the cheque from A. Z. M. R.

Osmany (Trustee and Secretary, Osmany Memorial Trust and the executive body) on 26 April 2009.

A new Radar laboratory was set up in the telephone line exchange communication laboratory of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering Department on May 2009. It would facilitate the practical learning on radar and related studies. This is a unique addition and yet an another step forward towards achieving centre of excellence.

R & D Wing has fabriated a lawn mower at MIST workshop with the indigenous technology. This has enhanced practical knowledge of the workshop staffs. Fabrication team was led by Squadron Leader Muhammad Imran Khan, General Staff Officer-2 in Research & Development.

The Orientation Program for new intakes of Academic Session 2008-09 was arranged on 02 February 2009. Commandant MIST welcomed the new students. Subsequently, Director Academic (Dean) and other Heads of the Departments addressed the students.

A total of 327 students (Civil students-208, Military students-116 and Foreign students- 03) were admitted in Engineering programs.

mess in honour of BA-2878 Colonel Moin Uddin on 06 March 09. He served in MIST as Head of the Department of Electrical, Electronic &

Communication Engineering from 28 August 08 to 06 March 2009.
