MUFY REGISTRATION

GUIDELINES

July 2016

(46)

 To complete MUFY successfully, you need to

pass 8 units

 English( Units 1 and 2) is a MUST PASS

 You need 2 more complete subjects for

example: Mathematics unit 1 and 2 and Physics 1 and 2

 Your subject combinations depend on which

degree you plan to pursue

46

(47)

 Register for English 2 if you FAILED English

1

 Register for Chemistry 2 if you FAILED

Chemistry 1

 Register for Accounting 1 and 2

concurrently.

The following CANNOT BE DONE in semester 2 :

(48)

 Accounting

 Advanced Mathematics

Part 2 of the following subjects cannot be attempted CONCURRENTLY or TOGETHER with Part 1 if the Part 1 score is less than 45%. Students need to obtain at least 45% for Part 1 before registering for Part 2:

(49)

 If you failed any of your unit 1 subjects, you cannot enroll into

unit 2 WITHOUT repeating Unit 1.

 You can repeat unit 1 and take up unit 2 concurrently for the

Fundamental Mathematics

Passing Unit 1

(50)

 Students must pass part 1 and part 2 of a

subject i.e. obtain a minimum 50% in order to achieve an overall pass for that subject.

 Students passing part 1 but failing part 2 or

the reverse do not achieve an overall pass for that subject even though the average of the two marks is over 50%.

Passing a Complete

Subject

(51)

A student who obtains 40% for

Mathematics 1 and 70% for

Mathematics 2 does not pass

Mathematics overall since part 1

of the subject has not been

passed.

Example:

(52)

A student must pass both

units of the mixed subject

combination in order to

achieve an overall pass.

PASSING A MIXED SUBJECT

COMBINATION

(53)

If the mixed subject combination is

Chemistry 1 and Physics 2, a student

who obtains 90% for Chemistry 1 and

30% for Physics 1 does not achieve

an overall pass for the mixed subject

combination

even

though

the

average of the two marks is over

50% because Physics 2 has not been

passed.

Example:

(54)

Students can repeat Part 1 or Part 2

units provided that no more than

fve units are taken in that semester.

A student who has enrolled for the

maximum number of units and who

wishes to repeat units can do so in a

third semester.

(55)

Students who have passed Part 1 or Part 2

and wish to improve their Monash

University Entry Score can re-enroll in any

Part 1 or Part 2 provided that no more

than fve units are taken in that semester.

A student can only repeat the unit once.

The highest mark combination will be used

to determine the Monash University Entry

Score.

Coming back for a third semester is

subject to approval.

IMPROVING THE MUFY SCORE

(56)

When selecting units, students

should be aware of the

pre-requisite subjects (if there are

any) for the courses they wish to

pursue at Monash University. This

information is available in the

MUFY Student Guide under entry

requirements.

MONASH UNIVERSITY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
