ABSTRACT
Sutrisno Sahala P. Panjaitan. Improvements Some Inceptisol Chemical Properties Through Giving Oil Palm Midrib Compost and Relation on Growth and Production of Maize.
This research was held in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in May to August 2014. This study aims to determine the effect of oil palm midrib compost to improve soil chemical properties of Inceptisol and its effect on growth and yield of maize in several dose levels. This research was held with randomized block design (RAK) non factorial of compost oi palm midrib with a level that is control (P0), 20 tonnes / ha (P1), 40 tonnes / ha (P2), 60 tonnes / ha (P3), and 80 ton / ha (P4).
Results from this study indicate that the oil palm midrib compost significantly affect the increase in the value of C-organic, pH and K exchange of Inceptisol. For plant parameter, found that oil palm midrib compost increased plant height and weight of dry seed.

Sutrisno Sahala P. Panjaitan. Perbaikan Beberapa Sifat Kimia Inceptisol Melalui Pemberian Kompos Pelepah Sawit dan Kaitannya Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Jagung.
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah kaca Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatra Utara pada bulan Mei hingga Agustus 2014. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kompos pelepah sawit dalam memperbaiki sifat kimia Tanah Inceptisol dan pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman jagung pada beberapa tingkat dosis . Penelitan ini dilakukan dengan menggunkan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) non faktorial berupa kompos pelepah sawit dengan taraf yaitu control (P0), 20 ton/ha (P1), 40 ton/ha (P2), 60 ton/ha (P3), dan 80 ton/ha (P4).
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kompos pelepah sawit berpengaruh nyata terhadap peningkatan nilai C-organik, pH dan K tukar tanah Inceptisol. Pada para meter tanaman, didapat bahwa kompos pelepah sawit meningkatkan tinggi tanaman dan bobot pipilan kering.
