Cassava main producers are the following provinces(with each average production): Lampung(4.2 mill ton), East Java(3.9 mill ton), Central Java(3.3 mil ton) and West Java (1.8 mill ton). Although national production increased 14.4% in year 2004, in general from 2001-2005 it decreased as much as 37.4%. In 2005 national cassava production decreased 57.2%, it was 19.5 mill ton in 2004 and became 12.4 mill ton in 2005. Cassava is one of many food export commodity, with China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan as destination countries. Total export volume increased significantly during 2002-2004 that its increase rate was more than 100%, from 94.1mill ton to 192.5 mill ton(26.9 mill USD) Cassava supplier to Indonesia are Thailand, Cambodia and China. According to the above table, it can be said that trade balance from year 2002-2004 was in surplus, in average it is 23,8402 ton or 2.5 %. Therefore, it can be concluded that the surplus trade is a positive signal for exporters.
