NOTIFICATION

The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.

5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Enforcement Regulations for Food Industry Promotion Act (available in Korean, 66 pages).

6. Description of content:

The enforcement regulations are set to stipulate the required aspects with regard to the content and implementation. The content of ‘certification for imported organic processed food’ in relations to WTO members is as follows:

- If those who are seeking to import or distribute organic food belong to one of the followings, they are allowed to use certified organic food labelling;

- Manufacturers in importing nations, which are issued the certificates of organic processed food by guaranteed certification agencies (including foreign agencies);

- The importers who are certified by certification agencies. Then, the organic food that importers are willing to import should be the food from the nations with which Korea made an agreement on equivalence.

* Certification standard

- Processing standard : general requirements, processing ingredients processing methods; - Standard for organic handling: pest and pathogen control, cleaning, sterilization, disinfection, packaging, transport, recording etc.
