MESSAGE
The Sabah International Expo (SlE| has been held successfully biennially since the year 2O0O. The success of the
previous SIEs can be directly attributed to the excellent partnerships and collaborations between the State Government of Sabah and the organizing committee.
As such on behalf of the Sabah State Government, I would like to congratulate and express my sincere thanks to the Federation of Sabah Manufacturers (FSM) and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCU Sabah Branch for their tremendous commitment in focusing and promoting business
opportunities and economic growth especially in the BIMP-EAGA region through the Sabah International Expo
and International Business Conference.
Over the years, the structural shifts from the manufacturing, agricultural and tourism sectors have been steadily on the rise and are expected to be at the optimum level within these few years. I therefore strongly feel that there is no better time than now to fully take advantage of the substantial and significant growth that BIMP-EAGA region presents. Being considered'Sabah3 Premier Trade Fair', the SlE2008 is the platform for the
convergence of businesses of a diversity of areas and industries in our quest of globalised economy.
The State and Federal Governments continue to accord the highest priority on the conservation of the natural environment by adopting preventive measures which is in tandem with the national agenda. One of the main
objectives of SlE2008 is to encourage this integration of environmental considerations on all development plans
while unwavering in our resolve to make BIMP-EAGA a developed and prosperous region.
I have the utmost confidence that the organizers will produce another momentous event this year. My best
wishes to the SlE2008 Organising Committee, and I look forward to welcoming all participants to Sabah, 'The
Land below the Wind'.
