ABSTRAK

EKUIVALEN TERJEMAHAN VERBA GERAKAN BAHASA BALI KE BAHASA INGGRIS DENGAN REFERENSI KHUSUS KATEMU RING

TAMPAKSIRING DAN TERJEMAHANNYA AN ENCOUNTER AT TAMPAKSIRING

Penyampaian makna dan pesan verba gerakan dari penerjemahan bahasa Bali (Bahasa Sumber) ke bahasa Inggris (Bahasa Target) memiliki kompleksitas yang tinggi karena beberapa variasi bahasa Bali cenderung sepadan dengan satu leksikon dalam bahasa Inggris atau dengan penyesuaian makna. Pembahasan tentang analisis tipe equivalen dan aplikasi prosedur penerjemahan verba gerakan Bali-Inggris sangat menantang untuk dikaji lebih lanjut. Hasil penelitian didapat melalui penerapan metode teknik dokumentasi dalam pengumpulan data dan metode dekriptif-kualitatif dalam analisis data. Teori yang digunakan, antara lain Konsep Lesikal Ekuivalen yang Diketahui dan Tidak Diketahui oleh Larson (1998) yang didukung deskripsi klasifikasi verba gerakan oleh Levin (1993), teori prosedur penerjemahan oleh Vinay-Darlbenet (dalam Venuti, 2000) dan teori penghilangan informasi, pemerolehan informasi, dan pergeseran informasi oleh Nida (1975).

Hasil penelitian yang ditemukan hanya 6 dari 8 klasifikasi lebih dominan memiliki Konsep leksikal ekuivalen yang diketahui. Body Internal Motion Verb terdapat Konsep leksikal ekuivalen yang diketahui melalui pencarian kata yang berhubungan dan konsep leksikal yang tidak diketahui. Inherently Directed Motion Verbs terdapat konsep leksikal diketahui melalui pencarian kata yang berhubungan, penggunaan gaya bahasa, dan konsep leksikal ekuivalen yang tidak diketahui juga ditemukan. Leave Motion Verb, Manner Motion Verb, Chase Motion Verb, and Accompany Motion Verb sebagian besar memiliki konsep leksikal ekuivalen yang diketahui.Penyampaian pesan dari BS ke BT yang sukses dapat dilihat dari prosedur penerjemahan yang diaplikasikan, berorientasi ke terjemahan oblique lebih dominant. Teknik tersebut antara lain, transposisi, seperti nguntul menjadi with head facing downwards, adaptasi, seperti kipak-kipek menjadi threw his sight back and forth), modulasi, seperti brangkat pindah menjadi was taken to, bah menjadi had been lying on. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa ada keterkaitan yang signifikan antara kesepadanan dan tekhnik penyampaian makna BS ke BT.

ABSTRACT

THE TRANSLATION EQUIVALENT OF BALINESE MOTION VERBS INTO ENGLISH WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO KATEMU RING

TAMPAKSIRING AND ITS TRANSLATION AN ENCOUNTER AT TAMPAKSIRING

Transferring the meaning and message from Balinese language (SL) to English (TL) is has high complexity that several variants in SL equal to one lexicon in TL or through meaning adjustment. The discussion is challenging concerned on the analysis of equivalent type of Balinese-English motion and the procedure application to transfer the message. The result is obtained by applying the method of documentation technique in collecting the data and descriptive-qualitative in analyzing the data. The analysis of the problems is scrutinized by utilizing the theory of Lexical Equivalent of Shared and Unknown Concept by Larson (1998) supported by the description of motion classification by Levin (1993), translation procedures theory is completed by Vinay-Darlbenet (in Venuti, 2000) along with the Loss, Gain, and Skewing of information Theory by Nida (1975).

The result is found that there are only 6 out of 8 classifications dominantly incline to Shared Lexical Equivalent Concepts. Body-internal motion verbs discover the shared lexical equivalent concept and the unknown lexical concept. Inherently directed motion verbs was found the shared lexical by finding equivalent using related word, using secondary and figurative sense, and the unknown lexical equivalent concepts. Leave motion verbs, Manner motion verbs, Chase motion verbs, and Accompany motion verbs mostly have the shared lexical equivalent concepts. The successful of message transference from the SL to the TL can be observed through the translation procedure applied in the texts that is dominantly oriented to the Oblique translation. The procedures are noticed, such as transposition procedure (e.g nguntul into with head facing downwards), the adaptation procedure (e.g kipak-kipek into threw his sight back and forth), modulation (e.g brangkat pindah into was taken to, bah into had been lying on, etc). Besides, it is also found literal translation procedure (e.g nampekin into approached, ngiring into to accompany). This research proves that there is a significant relation between the equivalence and the procedure of translation from SL to TL.
