CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 Research Design
This research applied qualitative method with qualitative content analysis
method. Qualitative content analysis method is a method of analysing written, verbal or
visual communication messages (Cole, 1988). Therefore, it is a method for summarizing
some forms of content by counting various aspects of the content. It means that the
research is designed to summarize the content to be known the various aspects of the
content.
Sometimes the analysis of qualitative data is only briefly covered through
„coding‟
and the generation of theory from data. According to Miles and Huberman
(2014:5) qualitative research is conducted through intense and/or prolonged contact
with participants in a naturalistic setting to investigate the everyday and/or exceptional
lives of individuals, groups, societies, and organizations. Qualitative research uses
inductive thinking to analyze the data, which the researcher gets by, analyze identified
fact. The object of qualitative content analysis can be all sort of recorded
communication materials analyzed can be textbooks, newspaper, web pages, transcripts
of interviews, speeches, television programs, advertisement, musical compositions or
other type documents.
