Abstrak
Program pencegahan erosi gigi dengan berkumur larutan baking soda 1

untuk
meuuruukan kadar asam sulfat di dalam rongga mulut pada karyawan pabrik
aluminium sulfat

Asam sulfat (98%) merupakan bahan dasar pada proses produksi aluminium sulfat
dan menghasilkan uap asam sulfat di lingkungan kerja. Pengaruh asam sulfat terhadap
karyawan adalah menambah erosi gigi. Salah satu program pencegahan erosi gigi adalah
menurunkan kadar asam sulfat di dalam rongga mulut, dengan membandingkan hasil air
kumur antara aquabidest dengan air kumur baking soda 1
%
setelah bekerja untuk
membedakan kadar asam sulfat dalam rongga mulut sebelum dan sesudah bekerja pada
delapan belas orang pekerja yang terbagi atas tiga
shift kerja.
Dianalisa dengan
menggunakan uji t berpasangan dan Anova berdasarkan taraf signifikansi 5 %. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baking soda 1
%
mempunyai keampuhan dalam
menurunkan kadar asam sulfat dalam rongga mulut dimana pada pagi hari p

Abstract.
A program for the prevention of teeth erosion by gorgling with 1% of baking soda,
to reduce the concentration of sulphuric acid in the mouths of labourers in an
aluminium sulphate factory.
Key words: Aqnabidest, baking soda, teeth erosion, prevention program.
Sulphuric acid (98%) forms the raw material for the production of aluminium
sulphate, and will yield sulphuric acid vapuor in the working environment. The effect of
sulphuric acid on the labourers is the increase in teeth erosion. One of the programs for
the prevention of teeth erosion is by reducing the concentration of sulphuric acid in the
mouth. The study was conducted by comparing the gorgle mouth wash using aquabidest
before work, with the gorgle mouth wash using baking soda after finishing work, in
order to look at the difference in the concentration of sulphuric acid in the mouths before
and after work of eighteen labourers, divided into three working shifts. Analyses were
done using paired t-test and anova, at the 5% level of significance. Results showed that
baking soda at a concentration of 1
%
is effective in reducing the concentration of
sulphuric acid in the mouth, with p

0.000 at noon, and p

0.000 in the evening.
It
is also effective in increasing mouth pH with p

morning, at noon, as well as in the evening. There was no effect of either labourer's age
with p = 0.982, nor the working time with p = 0.989 on the concentration of sulphuric
acid. In order to obtain the best results, the use of I% of baking soda as a gorgle mouth
wash, must be accompanied by an extention and the wearing of a mask, included in one
program
