Abstract
This study investigates the students’ attitude toward peer feedback. The data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire that was distributed to 41 students of academic writing classes that were offered in semester 2 of 2010/2011 academic year. The research analyzed peer feedback from two different categories, subject and object categories. The subject category put the participants as the feedback provider whereas the object category put the participants as the feedback receiver. The responses from subject category show that although 82.86% of participants thought that feedback was useful in helping them practice their knowledge to analyze others’ works and be critical in thinking, 43.90% of participants were unwilling and afraid to give feedback to peers. When asked to give comments about the peer feedback they received, 79.49% of the participants stated that feedback from peers was beneficial. However, 50% would consider peer feedback in revision period and 50% became unconfident with their works when peers gave feedback to them. However, this research is expected to give some insights on peer feedback to English teachers wishing to implement it in their classroom.
Keywords: attitude, peer feedback, academic writing, cognitive, affective,
