pt daHana memulai sejarahnya pada tahun 1966 dari “proyek Menang” yang diprakarsai oleh angkatan udara republik indonesia (auri). Kata proyek Menang diambil dari nama sebuah dukuh di desa Kuwiran, Madiun. disana tni au membangun pabrik roket pertama di indonesia. dipilihnya dukuh Menang sebagai lokasi pembuatan roket karena letaknya yang strategis berdekatan dengan pangkalan udara iswahyudi.
Kemudian, karena dianggap berbahaya jika sewaktu- waktu pangkalan udara diserang, daHana berpindah ke tasikmalaya. selanjutnya, di Kota santri itu, mulai dibangun tiga bagian pabrik. proyek Menang i diubah namanya jadi pabrik roket Menang i. sedangkan, dua pabrik baru dibangun dengan nama pabrik proyek Menang (pM) ii yang memproduksi dinamit dan proyek Menang (pM) iii sebagai Side Line Production.
PT DAHANA started its history in 1966 from the “Menang Project” initiated by the Indonesian Air Force (AURI). The name ‘Menang Project’ was taken from the name of a hamlet in Kuwiran Village, Madiun. It was the location where the Indonesian Air Force built the first rocket factory in Indonesia. Menang Hamlet was chosen due to its strategic locations which was close to the Iswahyudi Air Base.
Later, because it was considered dangerous if the air base was attacked at any time, DAHANA moved to Tasikmalaya.
Furthermore, in the City of Santri, three parts of the factory were built. Menang Rocket Factory I was renamed the Winning Rocket Factory (PM). Meanwhile, two new factories were built under the names of Menang Project II which produced dynamite and Menang Project (PM) III as Side Line Production.

pada Februari 1973, dijajakilah kemungkinan pengubahan proyek Menang menjadi sebuah perusahaan umum (perum). akhirnya, pada 1 Oktober 1973 terbitlah peraturan pemerintah nomor 36/1973 tentang perubahan proyek Menang menjadi perusahaan umum daHana.
nama daHana diambil dari Bahasa sanskerta yang memiliki arti “api”. logo proyek menang pun saat itu turut diubah menjadi segilima yang merepresentasikan tni au di antara gambar kendil, serta api yang sebelumnya mengarah ke kiri menjadi ke kanan.
In February 1973, the possibility of converting the Menang Project into a Public Company (Perum) was explored. Finally, on October 1, 1973, Government Regulation No. 36/1973 concerning the change of Menang Project to a public company DAHANA was issued.
The name DAHANA was taken from Sanskrit which means “fire”. The logo of the Winning Project was also changed to a pentagon representing the Indonesian Air Force between the pictures of the kendil, and the fire now faced the right direction.

daHana sempat mengalami jalan yang terjal, salah satu gudangnya meledak sehingga mengakibatkan penghentian seluruh aktivitas, dari mulai penelitian, pengembangan, hingga operasi. setelah kejadian tersebut, keluarlah keputusan yang memperbolehkan impor bahan peledak oleh pengguna akhir, yang membuat carut marut dunia bahan peledak indonesia.

pemerintah mengeluarkan Keputusan presiden no.
27 tahun 1982 yang isinya menugaskan daHana bertindak sebagai pengadaan, penyediaan, dan distribusi bahan peledak dan yang sejenis dengan itu serta komponen-komponen yang berhubungan dengan bahan peledak tersebut untuk seluruh wilayah indonesia dan pada tahun 1991 daHana resmi menjadi perseroan.
namun, monopoli bahan peledak tak berlangsung lama, pada tahun 1994, pemerintah kembali membuka kran persaingan pasar bahan peledak dalam negeri yang mengimpor dari perusahaan-perusahaan bahan peledak nomor wahid di dunia.
DAHANA once experienced a difficulty when one of the warehouses, one of warehouses exploded which resulted in the cessation of all activities, from research, development, to operations. After this incident, a decision was issued to allow the import of explosives by end users, which made the explosive industry in Indonesia chaotic.
The government issued Presidential Decree no. 27 of 1982 in which the government appointed DAHANA to act as the procurement, supplier, and distributor of explosives and the like and the components related to these explosives for the entire territory of Indonesia and in 1991 DAHANA officially became a company. However, the explosives monopoly did not last long. In 1994, the government enabled competition in the domestic explosives market, which imported explosives from the world’s companies.

perkembangan pesat daHana di bidang bahan peledak komersial dianggap pemerintah dapat menjadi bagian dari industri pertahanan yang mampu mewujudkan kemandirian alat utama sistem senjata (alutsista) dan alat peralatan pertahanan dan Keamanan (alpalhankam) nasional.

Pada 2 Maret 2022, akhirnya DAHANA secara resmi menjadi bagian dari holding BUMN Industri Pertahanan DEFEND ID. Bersama empat BUMN industri pertahanan lainnya, DAHANA ditantang untuk menembus Top Global 50 Defense Company dan meningkatkan Tingkat Kandungan Dalam Negeri (TKDN).
On March 2, 2022, finally DAHANA officially became part of the Defense Industry BUMN holding DEFEND ID. Together with four other state-owned defense industries, DAHANA was challenged to penetrate the Top Global 50 Defense Company and increase the Domestic Content Level (TKDN).
With the spirit of innovation, DAHANA then transformed into a company that provides various needs for explosives, with integrated blasting services. DAHANA began to diversify its business products and services, from commercial to military markets.
DAHANA’s rapid development in the field of commercial explosives is considered by the government to be part of the defense industry that is able to realize the independence of the main Weapon System Equipment (Alutsista) and the National Defense and Security Equipment (Alpalhankam).
