Summary
The research result that presented in this dissertation is focusing to collaboration process of small trader community –
Papalele at Ambon. The main concern was addressed to
papalele community that located at Hatalai Village and Mardika Market of Ambon city. Papalele, as we known is a set of persons who serving their concern in economic aspect as small trader. The name of “papalele” has two functions that are as the business subject and functioned as explaining about trading activity. While, the means of “papalele” is buying and selling again to getting a small profit (Mailoa, 2006).
To guiding this research in order to maintain in initial objective, there is needed the thesis that can be a research guide. The main thesis of this research is the collaboration pattern that more rational, as the form in sustainability and continuity of local economic activity, than competition.

Second, as the business mechanism, in general was always related with the ability of trader or the trader must developing their business so that growing in the future. The main orientation is business development.
The papalele as presented from this research result was against the existing fact. The power of papalele was placed at social aspect that developed through a networking among
papalele and among trader as business partner. With social equity – the fidelity guarantee through “janji” mechanism and fashion as the power identity of solidarity, papalele was creating an identity to keep standing and exist up till now. While, on the other side, the papalele orientation was not addressed to business development, but oriented to developing family social status (klan) and old age benefit
