Abstract
This study aims at investigating the challenges and the strategies to face the challenges of the teaching of English in New Generation Alternative School. The subjects of the study were two English teachers and the data were collected by interview. The result of the study showed that the challenges were students’ problems, materials, shock culture, and lack of teachers. The strategies to face the challenges that the teachers used such as: giving good support and motivation, sharing their personal experiences, changing the students’ mindset, breaking the students’ mental, pushing them to be more active, giving extra homework, providing various materials, asking the students to memorize more vocabularies, buying books for supporting the teaching because the books in the school library were limited, approaching the students, giving chances for the ex students to be teachers to help the teaching process, and also being helped by the guest and foreigners to help the teaching.
