ABSTRACT
Widiastuty, Agustina Tri, 1409010004. 2018: Linguistic Landscape In Cilacap And Purwokerto: Multilingualism And The Minority In Towns. Undergraduate thesis for Sarjana Sastra Degree, English Department, Faculty of Letters, University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.
This research aims to find out and analyze how the multilingualism and the existences of minority language in Cilacap and Purwokerto. In conducting the research, the researcher use mixed method of qualitative and quantitavie. The aim of this research is to identifying and analyzing the Top – Down and Bottom – Up sign through the language. The researcher took the landscape with digital camera in Cilacap (Gatot Subroto Street – Jend. S. Parman Street) and Purwokerto (Jend. Soedirman Street).
Based on the data analysis, this study reveals Linguistics Landscape in Cilacap and Purwokerto including language usage, error writing style, among others. This was be done by analyzing the data collected from specific public domains such as street signs, advertising signs, building names, warning notices and prohibitions, billboards, shop signs, informative signs. Meanwhile, Indonesian language is the mostly found in the towns. Then, the lowest number of language used in both cities is Banyumasan Language.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis bagaimana multilingualisme dan eksistensi bahasa minoritas di Cilacap dan Purwokerto. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode campuran yakni kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis tanda Top - Down dan Bottom - Up yang ada di Cilacap dan Purwokerto. Peneliti menggunakan media kamera digital untuk mengambil gambar yang ada di Cilacap (Jalan Gatot Subroto - Jalan Jend. S. Parman) dan Purwokerto (Jalan Jend. Soedirman).
Berdasarkan analisis data, penelitian ini menunjukkan Lansekap Linguistik di Cilacap dan Purwokerto termasuk penggunaan bahasa, kesalahan penulisan, dan lain sebagainya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis data yang dikumpulkan dari domain publik tertentu seperti tanda jalan, tanda iklan, nama bangunan, pemberitahuan peringatan dan larangan, papan iklan, rambu-rambu toko, tanda-tanda informative. Sementara itu, Bahasa Indonesia adalah bahasa yang paling banyak di temukan di kedua kota tersebut. Sedangkan bahasa Banyumasan mendapatan posisi terakhir di Cilacap dan Purwokerto.
