English is very important to be mastered by the people in the world. One of the most important things which deals with that is communication, because communication is a way of how to convey our message to others, and on the other hand. One will understand what we mean when they understand our language. For that reason, the government has determined that English is the foreign language which has to be learned by all of students.
The objectives of this study are to describe they implementation of debate activity to the students in teaching speaking English and to investigate the responses of the students in the implementation of debate activity in teaching speaking English. . This study was done at MTs Mambaus Sholihin Suci – Manyar – Gresik. The subject of the study were the teacher and students of Junior High School. The instruments were observation checklist. The data collection technique adopted was the observation.

Standar Kompetensi : Mengungkapkan makna dalam percakapan transaksional dan interpersonal sangat sederhana untuk berinteraksi dengan lingkungan.
Kompetensi Dasar : Melakukan interaksi dengan lingkungan terdekat yang melibatkan tindak tutur: meminta mengulangi suatu ucapan, meminta maat dan mengungkapkan kesantunan.
