Yusuf Hartono was born on November 16, 1964 in
Kundur,aleprosyolonynearPalembang,SouthSumatra,
Indonesia. HestartedhiselementaryeduationatSekolah
DasarNegeri3,Marianain1971,butgraduatedfrom
Seko-lahDasarNegeri2,Marianain1976. Hegothisnext
three-year seondary eduation from SMP Bina Utama, Sungai
Gerong. Afterwards,he spentanother three yearsat high
shoolSMAYaktapena2, SungaiGerong. Aftergraduating
fromhighshoolin1983,hewenttoUniversitas Sriwijayain Palembang,from
whihheobtainedhisbahelor'sdegreeSarjanainMathematisEduationve
yearslater. In1990hestartedhisjobasajuniorleturerattheDepartmentof
MathematisEduationUniversitasSriwiyaja. Hethenspenttwoyears
study-ing at the Department of Mathematis and Computer Siene University of
Missouri-Rolla, USA, and obtained Master of Siene in Applied
Mathemat-isin 1993. InOtober 1998he joined AfdelingCROSS(Control, Risk,
Opti-mization,SystemsandStohastis)FaulteitInformatietehnologieenSystemen
(ITS)TehnisheUniversiteit Delft,theNetherlandsandstartedhis Ph.D.
