Maternal Health:

Antenatal Care (ANC)

59% of women receive ANC from a skilled

provider. Nearly all (94%) of women with more than secondary education receive ANC from a skilled provider, compared to 55% of women with no education.

Fertility

Afghan women have an average of 5.3 children. Women in urban areas have fewer children

(4.8) than women in rural areas (5.4).

Family Planning

2 in 10 currently married women use a modern method of family planning. Modern

method use is slightly higher in urban areas than in rural ares.
