ABSTRACT
This research is motivated by the students that confused about the procedure of choosing majors to the college. The purpose of this research was to describe: 1) the role of guidance and counseling teachers in helping the students determined majors to the college was seen from a classical service. 2) the role of guidance and counseling teacher in helping the students decided majors to the college was seen from the group service. 3) the role of guidance and counseling teacher in helping the students choosed majors to the college was seen from the individual service. This research was done by qualitative approach with descriptive types. The key informants in this research were 3 peoples i.e. guidance and counseling teachers, and 3 additional informants they were headmaster, one of subject teacher, and deputation of students from class XII. The research instrument used were interview guidance, the technique used was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The researcher recomend to the guidance and counseling teacher ought to the role of the guidance and counseling teacher related to the counseling service can be optimally implemented.

PENDAHULUAN
Sekolah merupakan lembaga pendidikan formal yang secara sistematis melaksanakan program bimbingan, pengajaran, dan latihan dalam rangka membantu peserta didik agar mampu mengembangkan potensinya baik yang menyangkut aspek moral, spiritual, intelektual, dan emosional maupun sosial. Hal ini senada dengan UU No. 20 Tahun 2003 (2006: 72) Pasal 1 ayat 1 menyebutkan bahwa:
Pendidikan adalah usaha sadar dan terencana untuk mewujudkan suasana belajar dan proses pembelajaran agar peserta didik secara aktif mengembangkan potensi pribadinya untuk memiliki kekuatan spiritual keagamaan, pengendalian diri, kepribadian, kecerdasan, akhlak mulia dan keterampilan yang diperlukan dirinya, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara.
