assessment of the current
health situation
and is fundamental
to designing and
updating national policies, strategies and plans

not just a collection of
facts
describing the epidemiology, demography and
health status of the population.

Instead, it should be

• The geography of the district as well as the people and communities who live there.

• The activities of other sectors which are important in determining the health status of the population e.g., Education, Housing, Water
