ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang. Lupus Eritematosus Sistemik (SLE) dengan aktivitas penyakit
yang beragam berpengaruh pada kualitas hidup penderitanya. Belum ditemukan
SLE berdasarkan Kriteria
American College of Rheumatology
Status aktivitas penyakit
dinilai dengan skor
Mexican Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity
Index
terutama kualitas mental. Dalam keadaan remisi atau inaktif, kualitas mental
masih di bawah rata-rata.

ABSTRACT
Background. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) with its va riety of disease
activity may have relationship with quality of life (QoL) of patients. Such
relationship has not been determined in SLE patients in Bandung.
Objective. To determine the relationship between disease activity and QoL of SLE
patients.
Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted to consecutive SLE patients, that
selected with American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 1997 Criteria for SLE, in
Hasan Sadikin Hospital within period of March-April 2011. Disease activity wa s
measured with Mexican Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index
(Mex-SLEDAI) score by doctors in the Rheumatology Clinic. The QoL wa s
measured with a self-administered Short Form-36 (SF-36) Questionnaire that
comprises Physical Component Summary (PCS) and Mental Component Summary
(MCS). SPSS version 17.0 was used to analyze the relationship including the
regression, with p < 0.05; two tailed α be considered significant.
Results. From 64 respondents, all were female, mean of age 31.55±10.33 years,
disease duration 4.47±3.29 years, and Mex-SLEDAI score 5±4.5. There wa s
negative correlation between Mex-SLEDAI score and MCS score (r= -0.276; p=
0.028), as well as PCS score (r= -0.216; p= 0.087). Score of MCS (47.351) wa s
below the a verage (50), although the patients were in remission or inactive state
(p= 0.028).
Conclusion. The more active the disease, the worse the QoL. Although the
patients were in remission or inactive state, their mental quality was still below
the average
