anggota program pertukaran siswa dari kota Melbourne, Australia. Bulan

depan saya akan datang ke Yogyakarta dan tinggal dengan keluarga Ibu

selama sebulan. Saya mau memperkenalkan diri.

Ibu Imar: Aaaahhhh Tom. Keluarga kami tidak sabar menunggu kedatangan Tom.

Apakah Tom sudah pernah ke Yogyakarta?

Jack:

Aduh, aku lupa Siti. Aku nggak belajar tapi bagiku, topik ini mudah dan

tes ini kurang penting.

Siti:

Ah, bagi aku, tes biologi ini penting sekali dan aku harus belajar.

Mengapa kamu pikir tes ini kurang penting Jack?

Jack:

Karena sesudah tamat sekolah, aku tidak tertarik akan masuk universitas.

Sabtu malam di Semarang, hampir jam setengah satu, udara lembab. Pedagang di pinggir

jalan sudah pulang dan jalanan mulai sepi dan gelap, tetapi dari jendela sebuah warkop cahaya

lampu masih bersinar dan suara orang masih terdengar. Warkop kecil ini masih sangat ramai

dengan orang, termasuk saya. Ada yang duduk bergaul bersama teman dan ada yang duduk

sendirian pakai wifi gratis.

Peminuman kopi semakin populer di seluruh dunia dan Indonesia tidak terkecuali. Warkop

muncul di mana-mana dan di seluruh kepulauan jumlah jenis kopi yang dihidangkan hampir

tidak terhitung.

Kalau di Australia, biasanya saya masuk kafe dan pesan kopi. Mudah ya? Di kafe dekat rumah

saya tidak ada pilihan jenis biji kopi, ada satu jenis saja. Tetapi di warkop Semarang ini, ada

lima belas jenis kopi yang bisa saya pilih! Nampaknya ada banyak yang harus saya pelajari

tentang ‘kebudayaan kopi’ di Indonesia.

Sebagai contoh, saya heran diberitahu bahwa di Indonesia terdapat banyak daerah penghasil

kopi berkualitas tinggi. Biji kopi yang dihasilkan dari setiap daerah memiliki ciri khas. Berikut

ini jenis kopi kesukaan saya:

Kopi Gayo, Aceh

Kopi ini terkenal karena kualitas kopi arabikanya yang sudah beberapa kali dinobatkan

sebagai arabika terbaik di dunia.

Kopi Kintamani, Bali

Kopi ini hasil tanaman dari daerah pegunungan. Kopi ini sangat disukai pencinta kopi

mancanegara. Berasa coklat dan aromanya seperti sitrus.

Kopi Tanggamus, Lampung

Perkebunan kopi Tanggamus terletak di lereng gunung Tanggamus. Kualitas kopi ini diakui

baik di dalam maupun di luar negeri. Rasanya pahit dan aromanya kuat.

Kalau berlibur ke Indonesia, jangan lewatkan kesempatan untuk merasakan budaya kopi yang

unik ini.

TEXT 7

Pendidikan dalam era globalisasi

Pendidikan terus berubah dalam era globalisasi ini, dan sekolah Indonesia harus mencari cara

untuk membantu siswanya menjadi ‘warga dunia’. Banyak sekolah modern sudah menggunakan

teknologi untuk memungkinkan hubungan antara siswa, guru dan sekolah dari seluruh dunia.

Melalui kolaborasi semacam ini siswa bisa memperluas pandangan hidupnya dan kesempatan

pendidikannya.

Tujuan program ‘Kerja Sama’ adalah menggunakan teknologi dan media sosial untuk mendorong

kerja sama antara siswa-siswi di Australia dan Indonesia. Melalui program ini siswa saling

dididik tentang pentingnya pelestarian lingkungan dan bagaimana mereka bisa mengurangi

jumlah penggunaan plastik. Aspek yang menarik dari program ini adalah siswa berperan aktif

sebagai pemimpin perubahan di sekolahnya.

Bulan yang lalu Sekolah Dasar 7 Denpasar sangat beruntung karena dikunjungi oleh rombongan

sekolah mitranya dari Australia. Guru dan siswa dari kedua sekolah itu berbicara tentang proyek

siswa yang sudah dilaksanakan, termasuk:

gelas dan botol plastik sudah dilarang di kantin sekolah

tempat mengisi botol air disediakan

siswa membawa botol air stainless steel yang dibagikan lewat progam Kerja Sama.

Dengan bangga, salah satu siswa dari Sekolah Dasar 7 berkata bahwa dengan proyek siswa

tersebut, jumlah plastik yang digunakan di sekolahnya berkurang 40%. Ini berarti bahwa plastik

ini tidak akan masuk saluran air, sungai dan laut kita.

Program ini memberi harapan bahwa generasi muda akan mengembangkan kemampuan untuk

menjadi pemimpin yang efektif. Di samping itu siswa akan lebih menghargai pelestarian

lingkungan dan mempererat hubungan lintas budaya antara Indonesia dan negara lain.

Indonàle – pesta rakyat di Australia merayakan kebudayaan Indonesia

Indonàle adalah festival untuk merayakan kebudayaan Indonesia dan merupakan festival

kebudayaan Indonesia terbesar di Australia. Festivalnya dimaksudkan untuk mempererat

hubungan kedua negara.

Indonàle berlangsung selama tiga hari dan para pengunjung mempunyai kesempatan belajar

lebih banyak tentang Indonesia lewat pameran dan pertunjukkan kesenian modern dan tradisional

Indonesia. Para pengunjung juga bisa coba berbagai macam makanan khas yang dijual di sana

atau, untuk yang senang memasak, bisa ikut kelas masak Indonesia.

Tujuan program Indonàle bukan hanya untuk pengunjung disuguhi tontonan yang menarik, tetapi

juga bisa ikut berbagai macam workshop. Mereka juga bisa belajar beberapa tarian Indonesia

baik yang tradisional maupun yang lebih modern. Juga ada kesempatan belajar bermain

alat musik tradisional Indonesia, dan berbicara dengan penulis, wartawan dan produser film

Indonesia terbaru.

Program unggulan tahun ini adalah pertunjukkan dari Pupp[A]rt Theatre Company.

Ini pertunjukannya yang pertama di Australia.
