ABSTRAK

Vima Febriani Susilo (2014) :Minat Menulis Siswa dalam Bahasa Inggris pada Siswa Tahun Pertama di SMA N 4 Siak Kecamatan Tualang Kabupaten Siak.

Gejala-gejala yang tergambar dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa rata-rata memiliki minat menulis berbahasa Inggris yang masih rendah. Mereka juga sulit meningkatkan aspek-aspek dalam kemampuan menulis. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaiman minat menulis siswa dalam bahasa Inggris. Dengan kata lain, seberapa bagus minat menulis siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Siak, Kecamatan Tualang, Kabupaten Siak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian survey. Peneliti mengambil 20 orang responden yang menjadi subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini. Peneliti menggunakan teknik acak sederhana untuk menentukan responden atau sampel dalam penelitian terhadap siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Siak. Alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah angket dan test, sedangkan untuk menganalisa data peneliti menggunakan ukuran tendensi sentral untuk mencari nilai rata-rata kemampuan minat menulis dalam bahasa Inggris siswa kela X SMA N 4 Siak, Kecamatan Tualang, Kabupaten Siak.

Berdasarlkan temuan-temuan dalam penelitian, peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata total minat siswa dalam menulis adalah 10,61. Ini menunjukkan bahwa minat menulis siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Siak, Kecamatan Tualang, Kabupaten Siak adalah bagus.

ABSTRACT

Vima Febriani Susilo (2014) : Students’ Interest in Writing of the First Year Students of State Senior High School (SMA N) 4 Siak Regency

The symptoms of this research were the students had low interest in writing. They were also hard in improving their ability in writing. This research was done to find out how the students’ speaking skill was. On the other hand, how good or bad the students’ interest of the first year students of SMA N 4 Siak. This research is survey research. The subject of this research was the grade X students of SMA N 4 Siak Regency. The researcher took 20 participants by using simple random sampling toward grade X students of SMA N 4 Siak Regency. The instruments of the research were questionnaire and test. The instruments were used to get data about students’ interest in writing. Whereas, to analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive statistics to find the mean score of students interest im writing of the first year students of SMA N 4 Siak.

Based on the findings of the research, the writer finds that the mean score total is 10.61. It is stated in level average to good. It can be concluded that students’ interest in writing of the first students of SMA N 4 Siak is quite good.
