CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. The Background of the Study

The rapid development of technology information at the present time is capable of providing easiness for humans to communicate and fulfilling the needs of information which can be done anywhere. One way to communicate and seek information that many people choice is the internet. And this time the internet has become the information media spotlight because it has a usage rate increased significantly.

Currently, many educational institutions have been facilitating students to access the widest information through the internet (Deddy, 2012). In educational institution, especially in university, the internet is no longer just supporting facilities, but has become a necessity of the students in obtaining the information.

non-academic information to all members of the group and the most widely used because of the announcement can be read anytime and anywhere.

Facebook is also widely used by students as a means to interact and exchange information about classes and announcements of lecture (Febrida: 2013) in which each application is displayed on the wall of facebook as interesting photos, videos, websites, status, announcements, online shops, advertisements and character insights can respond by any person who read (Veer, 2010: 74) which allows the interaction available on each comment box.

Interactions that occur have a rule where the exchange of information between the writer and the reader, and also the using of speech function by the participants in the interaction. Example:

OPR: The Almamater already have been here. If you want to embroidery

your name, you can directly order and pay. Send your name and the size of yours.

M1: How much its cost?

OPR : Rp. 120.000

M2 : Where can we take the Almamater?

OPR: You can take it in FIP

initiated by M1 and M2 is termed as k2 (Secondary knower move) and the move conveyed by OPR is called k1 (primary knower move). So, the patterns of Move of the conversation are k2 ^ k1 and k2 ^ k1. Every announcement which displayed on Persma Bimed group has different intention and the different intention of announcements create different patterns of Move. We can compare the example below to the example above.

OPR: For all my friends who want to participate the BMGTS in Padang

Sidempuan area and South of Tapanuli are expected to come on: day : Wednesday, December 18th, 2013

by teachers with the children showed that in the conversation dominantly the teachers as a ‘Delayed primary knower’ (dk1) move where the teacher knows the answer. The dk1 moves are used to check that the children have followed instructions, and sometimes simply to ensure that they are involved in the discourse. Then, a research which found the exchange of service done by Purwaningjati (2011) in identifying and describing the pattern of negotiation in

students’ casual conversation showed that 45,7% were responding move or

dominantly the student as a ‘primary actor’ (a1) where the student tended to

support the proposition delivered and they also prefer to continue their proposition. And the research which found the Speech function in conversation done by Araghi (2011) on his research in determining the realization of Speech function in mood (Declaratives, Interrogatives and Imperatives) used by interlocutors with different genders showed that dominant speech function used by both genders was Declarative that causing the process of meaning exchange to be one-side and partial.
