COOPERATION IN '!HE FIELDS OF EIUCATION, TRAINim, RESEARCH AND APPLIED TEnWLOGY
'lbe Minister of State for Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Education and Science Coordinating Minister for Science Policy of the Kingdcln of the Netherlands, hereinafter referred to as the Parties ;
recaijNNiイセ@ the discussions held at the Haque on June 29, 1987 and in Jakarta on Noven:ber 25, 1987 between both Parties on the current status of activities regarding science, research and technology in their respective countries ;
WHEREAS the GoverIJDent of the Republic of Indonesia and the GoverIJDent of the Kingdcln of the Netherlands have concluded an Agreeirent on CUltural cooperation signed on July 7, 1968;
DE.SIRim to expand and to intensify their lllltual cooperation in the fields of science, research and technology by exchange programs, Jllltual support and joint programs;
セ@ 'IHEREFORE on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Education and Science - Coordinating Minister for Science Policy of the Kingdcm of the Netherlands, Drs. W. J. DeetJmn on Noveni>er 25, 1987 to Jakarta both Parties have agreed to sign a Metrorand\.Jn of Understanding with the following provisions :
-Al'tlCle 1
'lbe Minister of State for Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia offers possibilities for Dutch students to do their practical work within one of the institutes under its jurisdiction and responsibility and will see to it that they will be exen:pted fran payment of tuition or examination fees.
Article 2
'lbe Minister of Education and Science - Coordinating Minister for Science Policy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands ensures that any Indonesian scholar, researcher or student attending Dutch institutions for higher education in the context of this Menx:>randum will be exen:pted fran payment of tuition or examination fees, and will see to it that the Indonesian overseas Fellowships Program will be expanded, including the provision of an adequate educational and social environment.
Article 3
Both Parties will seek to inprove the general possibilities for DJJtual cooperation in research in the fields which are specifically relevant for industrial develorment in both countries.
Article 4
In order to maximize the benefit of the last Snellius II Expedition (1984-1985) both Parties agree to
(a) continue activities on the processing of the data collected during the Snellius II expedition;
(b) make arrangem!nts in offering training opportunities in the Nether 1 ands;
(c) investigate possibilities of cooperation on a broader scale in which education training, research and applied technology will be integrated towards the realization of practical oriented programs ;
(d) bridge the transition to a broader program through ongoing scientific cooperation in a number of fields.
Article 5
As cooperation in the fields of biotechnology presently ta.King place between Indonesia and the Netherlands is considered to be fruitful!, both Parties were of the opinion to continue this program, including provisions for scholarships.
-Article 6
Both Parties shall have the right to all data collected and compiled as a result of cooperation within the framework of this Mennrandum . Al 1 data shall be treated as confidential Wlless and Wltil both Parties determined otherwise.
Article 7
Whenever required program tasKs, schedules, financial arrangerrents , plans and other appropriate matters will be laid down in special irrplernenting arrangements to this Mennrandum.
Article 8
1his Mennrandum of Understanding will beccrne effective upon signature and will remain in force tu1til terminated on a written six nnnth notice by either party.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Wldersigned, duly authorized by their respective Governments, have signed this. MXJ.
