ABSTRAK
Penelitian mengenai “Pengaruh Penambahan Khamir (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)
Terhadap Kandungan Asam Laktat dan NH3 Silase Rumput Gajah (Pennisetum
purpureum) cv.

ABSTRACT
A research on "The Effect Addition of Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) of The Lactic Acid Contents and NH3 of Elephants Grass (Pennisetum purpureum) cv.Taiwan Silage" was conducted in November to December 2012 for 4 weeks at the Balai Inseminasi Buatan (BIB) Lembang and Ruminantia Nutrient, Feed Chemical Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Padjadjaran. The purpose of this research were to determine the effect of addition of yeast on Elephant grass silage and to find which yeast level gave highest lactic acid contents and lowest NH3contents. The research was conducted experiments using a completely randomized design, as the treatment were 4 types addition of yeast and 1 type as a control without yeast, wich were to T0 (Elephant Grass Silage without yeast), T1 (Elephant grass silage with 0,3% yeast), T2 (Elephant grass silage with 0,6% yeast), T3 (Elephant grass silage with 0,9% yeast), and T4 (Elephant grass silage with 1,2% yeast). Each treatments repeated as many as four times. The results showed the addition of doses yeast decreased the lactid acid content and increased NH3 contents of silage of Elephant grass. The result still achieving standart criterion of good silage quality.
