HUBUNGAN ANTARA ADVERSITY QUOTIENT DENGAN PRESTASI AKADEMIK PADA ANGGOTA UNIT KEGIATAN MAHASISWA

ABSTRAK
Prestasi akademik adalah hasil pengukuran terhadap peserta didik setelah mengikuti proses pembelajaran dalam periode tertentu dan diukur menggunakan instrumen yang relevan. Mahasiswa, selain harus memenuhi tuntutan akademik, juga mengikuti organisasi memiliki banyak hambatan dan tantangan. Untuk menghadapi
masalah, dibutuhkan adversity quotient yaitu kemampuan menghadapi kesulitan atau
hambatan dan bertahan dalam berbagai kesulitan hidup dan tantangan yang dialami
(Stolz, 2000). Unit kegiatan mahasiswa USU Society for Debating merupakan unit
kegiatan mahasiswa yang anggotanya memiliki banyak tantangan dan tanggung jawab untuk meraih prestasi dalam organisasi dan kejuaraan serta akademis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat korelasional dan bertujuan untuk
mengetahui hubungan antara adversity quotient dengan prestasi akademik pada
anggota unit kegiatan mahasiswa USU Society for Debating. Sampel penelitian ini
adalah 40 orang anggota unit kegiatan mahasiswa USU Society for Debating.
Penelitian ini menggunakan skala adversity quotient berdasarkan aspek-aspek
adversity quotient (Stolz, 2000) dan data indeks prestasi dari anggota unit kegiatan
mahasiswa USU Society for debating. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan adanya
hubungan antara adversity quotient dengan prestasi akademik pada anggota unit
kegiatan mahasiswa USU Society for Debating dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,374.

ABSTRACT
Academic achievement is the result of measurement upon students after the learning process in certain period that is assessed using a relevant instrument. Students, aside from having attention in academic, also join organizations will have challenges and obstacles. To overcome adversities, adversity quotient is needed, that is the ability of individuals to alter the way they think and endure the obstacles that they undergo (stolz, 2000). Student activity unit USU Society for Debating is an organization. Its members have many adversities and responsibility to gain achievement in organization, championships and also academic. This research is correlational research and aims to understand the correlation between adversity quotient and academic achievement among the members of student activity unit USU Society for Debating The subjects of this research is 40 members of student activity unit USU Society for Debating. This research uses adversity quotient scale based on the aspects of adversity quotient (Stolz, 2000) and index achievement data upon the members of student activity unit USU Society for Debating The result showed that there was a correlation between adversity quotient and academic achievement among the members of student activity unit USU Society for Debating with correlation coefficient 0,374.
