1. Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the students are expected to be able to: 1. evaluate existing learning materials and textbooks;
2. design and develop learning materials for a certain topic and level; 3. use acceptable and appropriate classroom language;
4. design a child-friendly assessment; and 5. carry out a child-friendly instruction 2. Course Description
This course aims at equipping the students with basic concepts and practical issues in the classroom for teaching young learners. Topics to be covered in this course are material evaluation, lesson planning, assessment, classroom language, and microteaching.
3. Learning Activities
Students will be involved in such activities as discussion , role-playing, presentation, exhibition, material development, and teaching simulation.
4. Media
Types of media to be used in this course are audio-visual media, internationally and locally published English textbooks, puzzles, flash cards, phonic cards, big books, picture books, and puppets.
5. Evaluation
Evaluation system will be based on the following criteria: 1. Assignments (30 points)
2. Material development (30 points) 3. Micro-teaching (40 points)
