Mangroves plant were reported to produce a variety of secondary metabolites, which are useful in their interaction with environment, as well as the response of environmental stress the development of resistance from the outside. Secondary metabolites in mangroves are compounds that have toxic effects, and
pharmacological importance. This study was conducted to analysis the
polyisoprenoid composition and distribution of leaves and roots in three species of mangrove associate, North Sumatra, which are Ricinnus communis Linn (Euphorbiaceae), Melastoma candidum D. Don (Melastomaceae), and
Barringtonia asiatica L (Lecythidaceae) were analyzed using two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. Based on the results, dolichols compound were observed in B. asiatica leaves and roots, M. candidum leaves and roots and roots of R. communis, whereas polyprenol compound in B. asiatica leaves, leaves and roots of M. candidum and R. communis leaves tissue. The highest quantity of polyisoprenoid was in leaves of M. candidum and roots of B. asiatica, whereas the lowest content of polyisoprenoid was in R. communis leaves and roots tissues.

RIDHA WATI : Deteksi komposisi senyawa polyisoprenoid pada organ vegetatif
tiga jenis mangrove ikutan. Di bawah bimbingan MOHAMMAD BASYUNI
dan SUMARDI.
Tumbuhan mangrove dilaporkan menghasilkan berbagai metabolit sekunder, yang
berguna dalam interaksinya dengan lingkungan, sebagai cekaman lingkungan
serta pengembangan ketahanan terhadap respon dari luar. Metabolit sekunder
yang ditemukan pada tumbuhan mangrove meliputi senyawa-senyawa yang
memiliki efek toksik, dan farmakologi yang penting. Penelitian ini dilakukan
untuk menganilisis komposisi dan distribusi polyisoprenoid dari daun dan akar
pada 3 jenis mangrove ikutan Sumatera Utara, yakni Ricinnus communis Linn
(Euphorbiaceae), Melastoma candidum D. Don (Melastomaceae), dan Barringtonia asiatica L (Lecythidaceae) dengan menggunakan metode dua
dimensi kromatografi lapis tipis. Berdasarkan hasil senyawa dolichol ditemukan
pada jaringan daun dan akar B. asiatica, daun dan akar M. candidum dan akar
R. communis, sedangkan senyawa polyprenol ditemukan pada jaringan daun
B. asiatica, daun dan akar M. candidum, dan jaringan daun R. communis. Jumlah
polyisoprenoid terbesar terdapat pada jaringan daun M. candidum dan pada
jaringan akar B. asiatica, sedangkan nilai polyisoprenoid terkecil terdapat pada
jaringan daun dan akar R. communis.
