RATIONALE

On-the-job training (OJT) programs are course requirements providing an opportunity to apply theories, principles and ideas learned of the students under supervision. These training programs expose the students to work realities which will ideally hone their skills and prepare them once they get out of the Colegio.

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM

A training program for students designed to immerse them in a work environment relevant to their courses as they desire to acquire productivity in, knowledge on and respect for the workplace.

On-the-job training programs are course requirements providing an opportunity to not only apply the learnings of the students but also enhance the technical knowledge, skills and attitudes of students towards work necessary for satisfactory job performance.

On-the-job training programs also serve as venue where students earn experience in career positions relevant to their choice of academic degrees as well as open up other future career choices towards decent and gainful employment.

ON-THE-JOB GENERAL OBJECTIVES

 Provide students with a guide for actual workplace experience, exposure to various management styles, industrial and procedures of various occupations in relations to their respective fields of learning.

 Provide standards and guidelines for conducting OJTs such as amount of workload, number of hours, learning objectives, monitoring scheme and sanctions.

 Clearly establish the roles and responsibilities of involved parties and provide for protocols regarding different situation that may arise during the OJT.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The following are the rules and procedures to follow before admitting student in his/her practicum.

Rules:

1. Student applicant shall be a 4th year standing with no back subject.

2. Endorsement from the area chair shall issue to the OJT Coordinator. 3. Student applicant shall follow the procedures below:

A. Submit resume and secure interview schedule in the guidance office.

B. Student applicant may submit the details of the company where they want to have their OJT (Company Name, Address, Contact Person and Contact Number).

C. For those who cannot find a company for OJT, the OJT Coordinator will assist them in finding one either within the offices of the school or other companies within Bataan area as the case may be.

D. Upon verification and with the instruction of the OJT Coordinator, student applicant may secure their endorsement letter at the Deans’ Office.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF INVOLVED PARTIES

For the OJT Coordinator

 The OJT Coordinator shall be responsible for all aspects of the students’ internship programs including program implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

 The OJT Coordinator will verify the details of the company submitted by student where they want to have their OJT.

 If verification has done, the OJT coordinator will endorse the student at the Deans’ office to secure endorsement letter.

 The OJT Coordinator is expected to conduct an initial site visit to ensure that the training facility is safe and conducive for the student.

 The OJT Coordinator is expected to review, orient, interpret and clarify to the students the objectives of the OJT program.

resolution of student’s concern, if any, as well as provide an opportunity to evaluate the OJT program and follow up on the progress of the student.

 The OJT Coordinator should also be available for consultation with student and provide coaching and counselling, if needed.

 The OJT Coordinator is responsible in evaluating the student’s reports, self-evaluation and will give the final grade taking into consideration the self-evaluation of the OJT Supervisor.

For the students

 An admitted student shall abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the institutions/company/office where he/she is undergoing OJT.

 The student should always observe discipline and right conduct.

 The student should wear the appropriate dress code.

 The student is expected to submit reports and requirements on time.

 The student should observe punctuality and attendance in reporting to his/her assigned training area.

For the Parents/Guardians

 The parents/guardians shall co-sign the training contract to manifest approval or consent to the OJT of their child.

 The parents/guardians shall issue a waiver of consent. ON-THE-JOB TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Number of Hours Required per Area

For the OJT students to fulfill their practicum they must comply with the following requirements as basis for giving them grades.

Weekly Requirement

1. Weekly Progressive Report

 The weekly progressive report contains the name of the student, his/her company, week number and work unit. Also the date, activities conducted, significant learnings and number of hours are included. ( see attached form)

 The weekly progressive report will serves a basis to determine the status of the OJT student.

 The weekly progressive report should be submitted every Monday of the week after a week they have started.

2. Learnings

 OJT student shall submit a narrative report of their learnings to assess if student are applying the lessons’ have been learn in the Colegio ( to be assessed by their respective area chair).

3. Problems Encountered / Solutions Made

 Student will submit a narrative report regarding with the problem that has been encountered by student immediately to the OJT Coordinator.

4. Time Monitoring Sheet

 OJT student should submit weekly time monitoring sheet for attendance monitoring purposes.

Final Requirement

The OJT student shall comply with requirement as prescribed by the OJT Coordinator.
