1 Purpose Zweck The MADE IN GREEN Standard belongs to the testing, certification

and licensing (OEKO‑TEX® products) offered by the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile and Leather Ecology, represented by OEKO‑TEX® Service GmbH (OEKO‑TEX®). Further information on the product portfolio and a list of the institutes approved by OEKO‑TEX® (Institute) according to Annex 1 OEKO‑TEX® Institutes can be found on the OEKO‑TEX® website (www.oeko-tex.com).

The MADE IN GREEN Standard is a normative document in which

the conditions for licensing the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® la-bel (MADE IN GREEN) are specified. In addition, the Terms of Use (ToU) valid for all OEKO‑TEX® products according to Annex II Terms of Use (ToU) apply.

Der MADE IN GREEN Standard ist ein normatives Dokument, in wel-chem die Bedingungen für die Lizenzierung des MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® Labels (MADE IN GREEN) festgelegt werden. Ergän-zend gelten die für alle OEKO‑TEX® Produkte gültigen Allgemeinen Nutzungsbedingungen (ANB) gemäß Anhang II Allgemeine Nut-zungsbedingungen (ANB).

The objective of MADE IN GREEN is to provide product traceability. According to the OEKO‑TEX® guidelines, these products should be tested for harmful substances and produced in a sustainable ner, i.e. in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible man-ner. This requires the transparency of all textile production process-es within a supply chain. In addition, the production facilitiprocess-es or ma-terials used in production must be certified by OEKO‑TEX®. The

certification for materials is STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® (STANDARD 100). The certification for production facilities is STeP by OEKO‑TEX® (STeP).

Das Ziel von MADE IN GREEN ist es die Nachverfolgbarkeit von Pro-dukten zu gewährleisten. Diese sollen gemäß den OEKO‑TEX® Richtlinien auf Schadstoffe getestet und nachhaltig, d.h. umwelt-freundlich und sozial verantwortlich, produziert sein. Dafür ist die Transparenz aller Textilanlagenprozesse innerhalb eines Liefernet-zwerks erforderlich. Darüber hinaus müssen die Betriebsstätten oder Materialien, die in der Produktion eingesetzt werden, nach OEKO‑TEX® zertifiziert sein. Die Zertifizierung für Materialen ist STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® (STANDARD 100). Die Zertifizie-rung für Betriebsstätten ist STeP by OEKO‑TEX® (STeP).

By making the supply chains transparent, MADE IN GREEN motes transparency and creates a means of communication to pro-vide consumers and other stakeholder groups with credible informa-tion about responsible acinforma-tion.

its products and product lines with the MADE IN GREEN label. This applies not only to manufacturers, but also to converters, wholesal-ers, retailers and brands. The latter can issue a MADE IN GREEN label with their own product ID1_{without being}_certified_{according to} STeP, provided they do not manufacture the said product them-selves (in wet or chemical processes and in the making up of prod-ucts) and their suppliers fulfil the MADE IN GREEN conditions.

Jedes berechtigte Unternehmen innerhalb der textilen Lieferkette kann seine Produkte und Produktlinien mit dem MADE IN GREEN La-bel versehen. Dies gilt nicht nur für Hersteller, sondern auch für Wei-terverarbeiter, Großhändler, Händler und Marken. Service providers (e.g. commission dyers) cannot issue MADE IN GREEN Product IDs.

Dienstleister (z.B. Auftragsfärber) können keine MADE IN GREEN Produkt-IDs ausstellen.

2.1 Requirements and criteria: B2C (finished products that consumers can buy at retailers)

3.1 Content and statement Inhalt und Aussage

The MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® trademark provides a supply chain traceable product label for all kinds of textiles (e.g. garments, home textiles, fabrics, nonwovens, textile accessories) and non-textile components (e.g. accessories).

Die Marke MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® ermöglicht ein über die Lieferkette nachverfolgbares Produktlabel für alle Arten von Textili-en (z. B. Bekleidung, HeimtextiliTextili-en, FlächTextili-engebilde, Vliesstoffe, tex-tile Zubehörmaterialien) und nicht-textex-tile Bestandteile (z.B. Zubehör-materialien).

The MADE IN GREEN label assures the user that the textile product: Das MADE IN GREEN Label gibt dem Anwender die Gewissheit, dass das Textilprodukt:

MADE IN GREEN offers transparency through the ability to identify, compare and evaluate supply chains. It can thus be shown where the different stages of product manufacturing have taken place. Each article awarded with the MADE IN GREEN label can be trans-parently traced by means of a unique product ID or QR code. The label provides information about the production facilities along the textile chain where the textile was produced, which production stage the participating companies belong to and in which countries the production took place. This transparency allows partners in the B2B business to evaluate the supply chain.

MADE IN GREEN bietet Transparenz durch die Möglichkeit Lieferket-ten zu identifizieren, zu vergleichen und zu bewerten. Es kann so-mit aufgezeigt werden, wo die verschiedenen Phasen der Produk-therstellung stattgefunden haben. Jeder mit dem MADE IN GREEN Label ausgelobte Artikel kann anhand einer eindeutigen Produkt-ID bzw. eines QR-Codes transparent zurückverfolgt werden. Das Label liefert Informationen darüber, in welchen Produktionsbetrieben ent-lang der textilen Kette das Textil produziert wurde, welcher Produkti-onsstufe die beteiligten Betriebe angehören und in welchen Län-dern die Fertigung stattfand. Partnern im B2B-Geschäft erlaubt die-se Transparenz die Bewertung der Lieferkette.

The MADE IN GREEN label serves as a special means of communi-cation for companies that present their responsible processes and supports consumers (B2C) in making sustainable purchasing deci-sions by providing information that is quickly accessible.

The MADE IN GREEN label stands both for a commitment to sustain-able textile production and for continuous investment in quality and safety in conjunction with sustainability along the supply chain.

A MADE IN GREEN product ID proves that all textile and non‑textile components of a product have been tested for harmful substances. This is done by certification according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX®. Furthermore, MADE IN GREEN guarantees that these textile products have been manufactured with sustainable process-es under environmentally friendly and socially rprocess-esponsible working conditions. This is achieved by certification according to STeP by OEKO TEX®.

Mit einer MADE IN GREEN Produkt‑ID wird der Nachweis erbracht, dass alle textilen und nicht‑textilen Komponenten eines Produkts auf Schadstoffe getestet wurden. Dies erfolgt durch die Zertifizie-rung nach STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX®. Ausserdem gewährleis-tet MADE IN GREEN, dass diese Textilprodukte mit nachhaltigen Prozessen unter umweltfreundlichen und sozialverträglichen Ar-beitsbedingungen hergestellt wurden. The STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® certification is a world widely consistent, independent testing and certification for raw, semi-fin-ished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well

as accessory materials used. Examples of articles that can be

certi-fied are raw and dyed / finished yarns, woven and knitted fabrics, accessories, such as buttons, zip fasteners, sewing threads or la-bels as well as ready-made articles of various types (garments of all types, domestic and household textiles, bed linen, terry products etc.).

Test criteria and limit values in many cases go far beyond applica-ble national and international standards.

The required STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® certificates must be

valid at the time of label issue.2 Die geforderten STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® _{zum Zeitpunkt der Labelerstellung gültig sein.}2 Zertifikate müssen STeP by OEKO‑TEX® is an independent certification for

sustaina-ble textile production. The assessment is carried out using management systems from the areas of quality, chemicals and the environment. The aim of the STeP certification is the permanent im-plementation of environmentally friendly production processes, opti-mum work and health protection and socially acceptable working conditions. The STeP certification offers a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of sustainable production conditions. This includes supporting the production facilities in measuring and sustainably improving their environmental performance, work safety perform-ance and social responsibility as well as in transparently making these points known to industry and consumers. The required STeP by OEKO‑TEX® certificates must be valid at the time of label issue.3

STeP by OEKO‑TEX® ist eine unabhängige Zertifizierung für nach-haltige Textilproduktion. Die Bewertung erfolgt über Management-systeme aus den Bereichen Qualität, Chemikalien und Umwelt. Ziel der STeP Zertifizierung ist die dauerhafte Umsetzung von umwelt-freundlichen Produktionsprozessen, optimalem Arbeits‑ und Ge-sundheitsschutz und sozialverträglichen Arbeitsbedingungen. Die STeP Zertifizierung bietet eine umfassende Analyse und Bewertung hinsichtlich nachhaltiger Produktionsbedingungen. Diese umfasst die Unterstützung der Betriebsstätten bei der Messung und nachhal-tigen Verbesserung ihrer Umweltleistung, Arbeitsschutzleistung und sozialen Verantwortung sowie bei der transparenten Bekanntma-chung dieser Punkte gegenüber Industrie und Verbrauchern. Die ge-forderten STeP by OEKO‑TEX® Zertifikate müssen zum Zeitpunkt der Labelerstellung gültig sein.3

3.2 Licensing (trademark) Lizenzierung (Marke)

The conditions for licensing and brand use (labelling) are based on the MADE IN GREEN Standard and the Terms of Use (ToU) in Annex II Terms of Use.

Die Bedingungen für eine Lizenzierung und Markennutzung (Kenn-zeichnung) richten sich nach dem MADE IN GREEN Standard und nach den Allgemeinen Nutzungsbedingungen (ANB) im Anhang II All-gemeine Nutzungsbedingungen (ANB).

In accordance with the meaning of MADE IN GREEN, the MADE IN GREEN label is protected under trademark law. MADE IN GREEN is internationally registered as a trademark.

Entsprechend der Bedeutung von MADE IN GREEN ist das MADE IN GREEN Label markenrechtlich umfassend geschützt. MADE IN GREEN ist international als Marke registriert.

To strengthen trademark protection, not only the MADE IN GREEN trademark as such, but also the word‑mark OEKO‑TEX®

The MADE IN GREEN trademark, including all OEKO‑TEX® trade-marks such as STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® and STeP by OEKO‑TEX®, shall only be used by those who are authorized to do so.

Die MADE IN GREEN Marke, einschliesslich aller OEKO‑TEX® Mar-ken wie z.B. STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® und STeP by OEKO‑TEX®, darf nur verwenden, wer hierzu berechtigt ist.

Prerequisites for licensing are data collection in the MySTeP data-base / the MADE IN GREEN dashboard in accordance with all re-quirements, fulfilment of all required MADE IN GREEN criteria and agreement with the Terms of Use (ToU) and the Institute-specific

Terms and Conditions.

Voraussetzung einer Lizenzierung ist eine allen Anforderungen ge-nügende Datenerfassung in der MySTeP-Datenbank / dem MADE IN GREEN Dashboard, das Erfüllen aller erforderlichen MADE IN GREEN Kriterien und das Einverständnis mit den Allgemeine Nutzungsbe-dingungen (ANB) und den institutsspezifischen Allgemeinen Ge-schäftsbedingungen (AGB).

3.3 Trademark use Markennutzung

For the use of the trademark MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX®, the principles and illustrations set out in Annex 2 Labelling, Annex 3 Re-quirements for verification and use of a label by third parties, Annex 4 MADE IN GREEN Implementation examples and Annex II Terms of Use (ToU) apply. The use of the MADE IN GREEN trademark in any other way or form or the omission of individual elements is express-ly prohibited.

Für die Nutzung der Marke MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® gelten die in Anhang 2 Kennzeichnung, Anhang 3 Vorschriften zur Verifizie-rung und Verwendung eines Labels durch Dritte, Anhang 4 MADE IN GREEN Umsetzungsbeispiele und Anhang II Allgemeine Nutzungsbe-dingungen (ANB) dargestellten Grundsätze und Abbildungen. Die Nutzung der Marke MADE IN GREEN in einer anderen Art und Form oder das Weglassen einzelner Elemente ist ausdrücklich nicht ge-stattet.

4 Procedure for obtaining the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® label

The MADE IN GREEN license or a MADE IN GREEN label is only avail-able by using the MySTeP by OEKO‑TEX® database / the MADE IN GREEN dashboard.

In order to access the MySTeP data-base, the applicant must first register using an application form. The registration is possible at www.oeko-tex.com.

• Tool with the possibility to carry out targeted comparisons and analyses of suppliers within a network on the basis of the follow-ing factors: score of STeP certified companies, performance indi-cators and sustainability factors. The transparent display of key performance indicators serves as a benchmark that not only fa-cilitates the comparison of suppliers, but also helps to identify and eliminate potential risks in the existing supply chain. The re-sulting visualization helps to select new suppliers or improve the performance of existing suppliers.

4.3 The MADE IN GREEN Process Der MADE IN GREEN Prozess The procedure for applying for a MADE IN GREEN license (product

4.3.1 Application Antrag The customer must first register via an application form for the

My-STeP Database / the MADE IN GREEN Dashboard and receives then access data and an active user license to use the supply chain management tool.4

In order to create a MADE IN GREEN license (product ID), the appli-cant needs information about his supply chains. The appliappli-cant con-tacts the relevant production facilities / suppliers via the MySTeP da-tabase and requests the release of their data. The requested facili-ties / suppliers determine if and which data the applicant or other users of the MySTeP database can see.

The applicant finds the essential suppliers for his application by en-tering their certificate number (STANDARD 100 or STeP) or the com-pany name and address. This allows him to invite his suppliers into his supply chain. The relevant supplier can confirm the invitation.

By confirming the MySTeP request, the supplier can decide on which data he wishes to make accessible to his customers in the MySTeP database. There are three permission levels from which the supplier selects one. By selecting the permission level, the cor-responding data is automatically displayed in the MySTeP data-base / the MADE IN GREEN Dashboard and on the website.

defined for each component.

Single components that equal or exceed 5% of the total weight of the product as well as at least 85% of the total weight of the prod-uct shall be supplied by STeP by OEKO‑TEX® certified production facilities. This concerns only wet / chemical production facilities (ex-cluding wet spinning processes).5

Every product for which a MADE IN GREEN label is to be issued must have a valid STANDARD 100 certificate corresponding to the article. Combined certificates are not permitted.

Each product for which a label is to be issued must have one or more valid STeP certificate(s). The MADE IN GREEN requirements and criteria for which a valid STeP certificate is required can be found in Chapter 2 Applicability of MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® in this standard. The following are application examples for the ne-cessity of STeP certification for wet / chemical processes (see Chap-ter 2 Applicability MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® CriChap-teria 3):

4.3.4 Label Label

If the conditions of this standard are met for the product or product line for which a MADE IN GREEN label is to be issued and the appli-cant has accepted the ToU, the appliappli-cant will be automatically au-thorized to issue a MADE IN GREEN label in the MADE IN GREEN Dashboard for the product or product line applied for. At the same time, the applicant of the MADE IN GREEN label receives a product ID for the relevant product. This entitles the applicant to use the MADE IN GREEN label for 1 year.

Wenn die Bedingungen dieses Standards für das Produkt bzw. die Produktlinie, für die ein MADE IN GREEN Label erstellt werden soll, erfüllt sind und der Antragsteller die ANB akzeptiert hat, erhält er im MADE IN GREEN Dashboard die automatische Berechtigung ein MADE IN GREEN Label für das beantragte Produkt bzw. die Produkt-linie auszustellen. Gleichzeitig erhält der Antragsteller des MADE IN GREEN Labels für das betreffende Produkt eine Produkt-ID. Damit darf er das MADE IN GREEN Label 1 Jahr nutzen.

4.3.5 Labelling Kennzeichnung

The MADE IN GREEN label is regulated in Annex 2 Labelling. Die Auszeichnung mit dem MADE IN GREEN Label ist in Anhang 2 Kennzeichnung geregelt.

5 Basis of licensing Grundlage der Lizenzierung

5.1 Basis for MADE IN GREEN / MySTeP Grundlage für MADE IN GREEN / MySTeP The legal relationship between the customer and OEKO‑TEX® is

based on an application by the customer to an OEKO‑TEX® ap-proved institute of his choice (Annex 1 OEKO‑TEX® Institutes). All kinds of textile and non-textile products defined in the customer's application must be licensed in accordance with this standard docu-ment.

Grundlage für das Rechtsverhältnis zwischen Kunde und OEKO‑TEX® stellt ein Antrag des Kunden an ein OEKO‑TEX® zuge-lassenes Institut seiner Wahl dar (Anhang 1 OEKO‑TEX® Institute). 5.2 Use of the trademark MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® Benutzung der Marke MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® With the release to issue the MADE IN GREEN label, OEKO‑TEX®

grants the customer the right to use the trademark MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® in accordance with the ToU and this standard.

The correct use of the label is described in detail in Annex 2 Label-ling and Annex 3 Requirements for verification and use of a label by third parties.

Im Anhang 2 Kennzeichnung und Anhang 3 Vorschriften zur Verifi-zierung und Verwendung eines Labels durch Dritte wird die korrek-te Verwendung des Labels im Detail dargeskorrek-tellt.

The owner of the label is only allowed to use the label in the form published by OEKO‑TEX®. In the MADE IN GREEN Dashboard, the label holder has direct access to the various designs of the MADE IN GREEN label.

If the trademark MADE IN GREEN by OEKO‑TEX® is used in contra-vention of the regulations for use, the ToU shall apply in accordance with Sections 7.5 Withdrawal and misuse of certificates, licenses and 11 Regulations for the use of the OEKO‑TEX® Marks.

5.3 OEKO‑TEX® Quality Assurance OEKO‑TEX® Qualitätssicherung The Terms of Use in accordance with Section 13 OEKO‑TEX®

Quali-ty Assurance shall apply.

5.4 Validity of the MADE IN GREEN License Gültigkeit der MADE IN GREEN Lizenz On the date of a MADE IN GREEN label issue, all certificates

underly-ing the MADE IN GREEN Standard shall be valid.

Zum Zeitpunkt der MADE IN GREEN Labelerstellung müssen alle dem MADE IN GREEN Standard zugrundeliegenden Zertifikate gültig sein.

The MADE IN GREEN label is valid for one year. Subsequently, a re-newal can be applied for. The MADE IN GREEN label owner ensures that the certificates on which his MADE IN GREEN license is based are valid.

All major changes to the product and/ or within the supply chain mean that a new product ID must be created.

The products manufactured during the validity of the MADE IN GREEN label can be checked by the end users for 5 years at www.madeingreen.com. It will be removed from the MADE IN GREEN Dashboard if no renewal takes place.

The labelled arti-cle can be traced transparently using a QR code. On the back, the consumer receives important information about the label's objec-tives and about OEKO‑TEX®'s expertise.
