ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini berangkat dari ketertarikan penulis untuk mengangkat/ mengkaji kehidupan masyarakat nelayan. Penulis tertarik untuk meneliti mengenai kehidupan masyarakat nelayan Ujung Genteng. Skripsi ini berjudul: “PASANG SURUT KEHIDUPAN MASYARAKAT NELAYAN UJUNG GENTENG (Suatu Tinjauan Sosial Ekonomi 1990 – 2006)”, bertujuan untuk Mendeskripsikan kondisi masyarakat nelayan Ujung Genteng. Permasalahan utama yang penulis kaji dalam skripsi ini adalah mengenai upaya masyarakat nelayan Ujung Genteng dalam hal perubahan sosial-ekonomi, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian historis.
Metode historis adalah suatu proses menguji dan menganalisis secara kritis rekaman peninggalan masa lampau (Gottchlak, 2008: 39). Dalam hal ini peneliti melakukan pengujian dan analisis terhadap sumber-sumber yang berhubungan dengan kajian yang peneliti bahas. Tahapan dalam metode historis ini terdiri dari: heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Penulis melakukan heuristik dengan mencari beberapa sumber yang relevan baik dari buku, dokumen-dokumen maupun dari internet. Sumber-sumber tersebut peneliti kritik dengan analisis sumber dan diberikan interpretasi. Setelah itu penulis menuliskannya dalam hasil kajian penulis pada tahap historiografi.

ABSTRAK
This study departs from the author 's interest to lift / examine the lives of fishing communities . Authors interested in studying the life of fishing communities Edge tiles . This thesis titled : " TIDAL PEOPLE OF FISHERMEN END TILE ( A Review of Social Economy 1990-2006 ) " , aims to describe the condition of fishing
communities Edge tiles . The main problem that the authors studied in this thesis is about the efforts of fishing communities Edge Tile in socio - economic changes , the author uses the method of historical research .
The historical method is a process of testing and recording critically analyze relics of the past ( Gottchlak , 2008: 39 ) . In this case the researchers conducted the testing and analysis of sources related to the study researchers discussed . Stages in the historical method consists of : heuristics , criticism , interpretation and historiography . The author did heuristics to look for some good relevant sources of books ,
documents or from the internet . These sources researcher criticism with source analysis and interpretation given . After that, the authors write in the review authors on stage historiography .
The study authors on stage historiography shows that fishing is a profession someone so closely associated with the presence of the sea in the hold of his existence . Instead surge of sea shades give a distinctive character to the individual who observes the wave ripples in it in total . This phenomenon gives personality traits fishing with harsh depiction of the character , of the establishment , words , physical or discipline - as hard as life on the high seas .
