Percobaan ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengaturan jarak tanam dan pemberian mulsa limbah pabrik tebu terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kacang hijau (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) varietas Walet serta untuk mengetahui kombinasi jenis mulsa dan jarak tanam yang terbaik yang mampu mengurangi kehilangan hasil paling sedikit. Percobaan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2012 hingga Juni 2012 di Ciparanje Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Kabupaten Sumedang, Jawa Barat dengan ketinggian tempat lokasi percobaan sekitar 750 m diatas permukaan laut (dpl). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola Faktorial dan diulang tiga kali. Faktor pertama jarak tanam 40 cm x 10 cm; 40 cm x 20 cm; dan 40 cm x 30 cm. Faktor kedua mulsa blotong 10 t ha-1; mulsa ampas tebu 10 t ha-1, dan kontrol (tanpa perlakuan). Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat interaksi antara pengaturan jarak tanam (j) dan pemberian mulsa (m) terhadap masing-masing parameter pengamatan. Kombinasi perlakuan jarak tanam 40 cm x 10 cm (j1) dengan pemberian mulsa ampas tebu (m2) dapat menekan kehilangan hasil kacang hijau sebesar 19,93% serta perlakuan jarak tanam rapat 40 cm x 10 cm (j1) memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap bobot biji per petak sebesar 1,03 kg (1,72 t ha-1) dan pemberian mulsa blotong 10 t ha-1 (m1) memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap bobot biji per petak sebesar 1,01 kg (1,68 t ha-1).

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of row spacing and sugar cane waste mulching on growth and yield of mung bean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) Walet variety and to find a combination of mulch types and the best row spacing that can reduce the little yield loss as possible. The experiment was conducted from March 2012 to June 2012 at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran field station, Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java with the altitude about 750 m above the sea level (asl). The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was spacing of 40 cm x 10 cm; 40 cm x 20 cm; and 40 cm x 30 cm. The second factor was blotong mulch 10 t ha-1; bagasse mulch 10 t ha-1 and a control (no treatment). The results of the experiment showed that there was no interaction between row spacing (j) and mulching (m) for each parameter observation. The treatment combination of row spacing of 40 cm x 10 cm (j1) with bagasse mulching (m2) 10 t ha-1 can reduce the percentage of yield loss of mungbean 19,93% and treatment of dense spacing of 40 cm x 10 cm (j1) gave the highest result for the grain weight per plot of 1,03 kg (1,72 t ha-1)and blotong mulching 10 t ha-1 (m1) gave the highest result for the grain weight per plot of 1,01 kg (1,68 t ha-1).
