ABSTRACT
Family centered care is the main source of strength and support for children during hospitalization in order that they can be more cooperative. The objective of the research was to find out the disparity in the cooperative level of pre-school aged children (3-5 years old) who had and had not undergone family centered care in RSUP Haji Adam Malik, Medan. The samples were 36 respondents, taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data were gathered by using questionnaires and conducting observation. The result of the research showed that the mean value of children’s cooperative behavior in the non-infection room and family centered care had not been done was 13.5 and the mean value of children’ cooperative behavior in the infection room and family centered care had been done was 23.4. The result of Mann Whitney statistic test showed that there was the disparity between the mean value of cooperative level in pre-school children (3-5 years old) and p-value=0.04 (p<0.05). The mean value of Children’s Cooperative behavior in children who had undergone family centered care was higher than that of the children who had not undergone family centered care. It is recommended that nurses who were on duty in the infection and non-infection rooms carry out family centered care on pre-school children who are treated in those rooms.

Abstrak
Family centered care merupakan sumber kekuatan dan dukungan utama bagi anak selama menjalani proses hospitalisasi, sehingga anak dapat lebih kooperatif. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kooperatif anak usia praekolah (3-5 tahun) yang sudah pernah dilakukan dan tidak pernah dilakukan Family Centered Care di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Haji Adam Malik Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain descriptive comparative di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Haji Adam Malik Medan, pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah 36 responden. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan nilai rata-rata prilaku kooperatif anak di ruang non infeksi yang belum pernah dilakukan family centered care 13,5 dan nilai rata-rata tingkat kooperatif anak di ruang infeksi yang sudah pernah dilakukan family centered care 23,4. Hasil uji statistik mann whitney menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan antara rata-rata tingkat kooperatif anak usia prasekolah (3-5 tahun) dengan nilai p= 0,04 (p< 0,05). Anak kooperatif lebih tinggi pada anak yang sudah pernah dilakukan family centered care dari pada yang belum pernah dilakukan family centered care, terdapat perbedaan kooperatif antara yang sudah pernah dilakukan dan yang belum pernah dilakukan family centered care pada anak usia prasekolah (3-5 tahun). Bagi seluruh perawat yang bertugas di ruang infeksi dan non infeksi untuk melakukan family centered care terhadap anak usia prasekolah yang sedang menjalani perawatan di ruangan tersebut.
