Abstract

The study investigated the linguistics features of politeness between male and female in communicating using Bahasa Indonesia. This study was conducted because of the lack discussion about this case. The study addressed this following question: Is the use of language features showing politeness between male and female in spoken Bahasa Indonesia different? If so, what is the difference? Because this was a qualitative study, interview method was used in data collection process. The respondents were asked to answer some questions based on the situational pictures and news given. This study involved 10 respondents which consisted of 5 males and 5 females. Finding of this study declared that females tend to use more language features showing politeness in their speech than males.
