2’ Warm- up - Ask students:

 What is the weather like?

 How do you feel now?

 Who is absent today?

- Students answer:

- Show students pictures about some celebrations in Vietnam and over the world (Tet holiday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving) - Ask students what celebration for each picture

- Check with the whole class

- Ask students to look at the picture in their course book and check with the whole class

 Are they family?

 What are they doing?

 What are on the table?

 Where are they?

 Are they happy?

- Students look at the pictureS

- Students make a guess.

- Students answer: Suggested answers:

 Yes, they are.

 They are talking.

 There are many fruits on the

- Teacher reads out the activities and checks whether they like doing it or not.

- Write on the board: II. While you read.

- Ask students to work in groups of 4 to scan the whole passage quickly to underline the new words/ new phrases in task 1

- Ask student about their part of speech in the passage. Teacher checks with the whole class

- Ask students to scan the 2nd time

the passage, focus much on the sentences before or after the sentences containing the new words/ phrases in task 1

- Check the meaning with the whole class, teacher can give the meaning when students can not guess

- Number the table of students: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5,6. Table 1 does question 1; table 2 does question 2, and so on. - Teacher goes around and helps. - After 2’, teacher calls 6 students from six tables and give their answer and their explanation to the whole class.
