This species
was
describedby
the writer in 1948 (p. 164)from
sevenmale
specimens. Since that time41 additional maleshave
been determined. In addition to the above malestwo
femaleshave
recently been recognized.The
female is described below:Female. — Length

pubescence average.Head

and
lateral spots on the base of the mandibles, all of
which
are hght yellow; the following parts are ferruginous:lower part of the medial lobe of the clypeus,

the basalthird oftheantennae;the black vittae ofthefaceextend through the antennal scrobes to the ventral border of the clypeus; mandibles with one medialdenticle; antennaenormal

a patch on the pleuron, four small patches on the sternumand
large spots on the tegulae all ofwhich
are hght yellow; ferruginous areas includemost

specimenwas
taken atDavis

County, Tex., Sept. 4, 1949 (F.Werner and W.
Nutting).The
latter specimen hasmarkings much
lighter than the former
and
the ferruginous area is very limited on thebody
parts.Males
takenfrom
each of the above localitiesshow
similar color variations.
Most
of the malesexamined show no
fer- ruginous. Future collectionsmay show
it desirable to recognizetwo
subspecies based on the extent ofthe ferruginousmarkings. Two
males taken 40 mi.W.
of Linares,N.
L. Mexico,have
the legs verydark and
thebody
parts also darker than the typical form.Furthercollections
may show
it desirable torecognize this colorform
as adistinct subspecies also.

clypeal structures of the females are very dif- ferent. The
very unusual position of the mandibular denticlesshows
